Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a pair of adjustable top mounts for the Xsara VTS / GTI6.

I would like to mate these to the AST coilovers I have.

So far I know about AST, D2 Racing and K-Sport who makes adjustable top mounts for the GTI6.
The AST mounts are 250GBP Crazy K-Sport is 160GBP here in Hungary, but I don't know if I can fit them with the AST coilovers.

Here are how the K-Sport kit for the Xsara VTS looks like:

Do you think such top mount can fit over the AST shocks? As this is how my AST top looks like:

As I have no experience with pillowball top mounts at all could you please help me in this?

Cheers,

Tibi

you would need a new top spring pan, unsure if the thread on the top of the piston rod is long enough for the Spherical joint either.

speak to Curtis Thumbs up (or ask Adam)

And where can I get such top spring pan? And how much are those?

I guess the piston rod is long enough, as it hangs out around 3-4cm from the original top mount.

I've asked Curtis, but the pair of AST mounts are 250GBP Shock

top mount thread

lurvely... this means K-Sport top mount would only fit if the AST and K-Sport springs has the same internal diameter

as at the top there's a flat surfaced thing, and I can not fit a spherical top hat (look at the pics. above and you'll understand)

you can remove the bearing seat from the springs.. you need to measure the ID of the coil.. then choose a top hat to suit... comprake or spoox do the adjustable ones. K-sport ones look sweet but bit overkill on a 306 as the rears cant be much suited to much camber!

Yeah I know what you mean, but I would like to adjust the front suspension to give more negative camber

I know I can't do anything with the rear, but surely the bit more camber on the front could help.

To be honest it would be better to get more caster, as in a tighter left hander the right front tyre was rubbing on the sidewall!!!
But I don't think there's a topmount on the market which would allow caster adjustment....

surely... nobody makes an adjustable top mount for the 305???

Drill some more holes rotate them through 90 degrees and hey presto, more castor. Smile

I'm not 100% sure but I think every adjustable top mount I've seen (including the ones pictured in this thread) moves the strut down in the wrong direction even compared to where its sits as standard.
Ours dont do this, they move the strut up within a couple of mm of the bonnet so when you lower your car you dont loose suspension travel which is what will happen.
After I designed theses I was told that Peugeot had done the same thing on the works Maxi's by moving inner wing up to overcome the same problem .
They are only adjustable for camber but everyone I've sold them to has located them further back to increase caster.
You can achieve 4degrees of camber with them and they come with a template that locates in the original mount holds to guide you when modifying the inner wing when fitting them, this takes about 15 minutes a side with a angle grinder fitted with a narrow disc and file.
