Right. Been a while since I posted anything on this. Got the abs sorted out. Dodgy sensor but I avtually had the fuse removed also. New brake discs on. I moved house lately so didn't get nuch time at this. I managed though to Stuip out the dash completely and all the heater controls and rads etc are now removed. Alarm and central locking stuff all removed also. It should be weighing in at under the tonne now so very happy with that.

Next track day is March 25th. I think I have all the tyre and stuff I need so should be fun.

I got suresoft compound Avon slicks for the very light rear end and medium compound dunlops for the front. Should have no problem getting heat into them now!

Later this year I'll be removing the engine to do some major work on it!

Geo sorted. Did a little painting. Excellent tyres fitted. A good clean. 3 Jerry cans filled and box and engine oil changed. First track day of the year next Friday.

Car is weighing in at 997kg atm with a tiny amount of fuel on board. I weigh 13.5 stone.

The Opel Manta looks like a Chevrolet Cavalier (Z24?) coupe from the late 80,s to early 90,s but not the same car unfortunately, G.M. raiding the parts bin again, the Manta was rear wheel drive the Cavalier was front wheel drive, a bit of a mongrel really but it was a reasonably good seller, saw loads of these when I was on holiday in Florida.

Great to see the site back up and running. In the mean time I had the best track day ever. Car is going really well and my lap times have improved big time. 160 miles on track in one day aint bad. Nothing broke but 2 tyres were destroyed!

Can anyone tell me if its advisable to fit 17" wheels to a gti-6? I've been told not to but the lure of cheap used 17" slicks is big!
