seeing my clutch is starting to get heavier i decided to look at the clutch history of my carBlink last done at 65182miles and even worse the clutch cable was done at 44355miles :shock

now what do i do? replace cable, bushes, clutch and fit lightened flywheel.....(without the misses knowingNinja )
or fit new cable and bushes and leave clutch and dont fit flywheelDry

I have just replaced my clutch, greased bushes, and cable but the clutch is still heavier than id like. I have looked into all kinds of ways of making it lighter. I thought about lengthening the clutch arm or pedal slightly but this will just mean more pedal travel is required. Anyone else find the angle of the clutch pedal movement is uncomfortable and a realy long throw. When the pedal is up it pushes your toes up, with your knee nearly touching the steering column. Press it down and your foot is nearly parralel with your leg, one extreme to another.
I have removed the spring on the side of the pedal and replaced it with a slightly stronger spring which seems to have made the pedal a bit lighter. The pedal is still returning fine and has free play at the top. Im thinking if you could get the spring setup made from steel with polished load surfaces you could put a stronger spring in place. If only i was an engineer.Blink A little warning - My knee is now shagged from the previous heavy clutch that got heavier over time without me knowing. Was fine one day, running, cycling, boxing, then the next day i had knee pain. I used to be able to drive any car or van no probs, now i struggle to drive any car with a cable clutch, can't run, cycle and even limp walking 3 months later. Mellow

Don't do half a job No

Do the whole lot once. You don't want to go through the hassle of doing it again in a couple of years

How many miles is a new clutch due roughly.

I pulled out of a road the other day with high revs and releasing the clutch and it smelt quite a bit. Big grin

could the smell be due to you not lifting of the clutch quick enough before the loud pedal was flat Shut up

I rode the clutch slightly as the pedal has a jumpy action due to the cable being old.

My original one lasted 110k or thereabouts and the bearing went rather than the clutch plate.

You need to grease the nylon bushes for the arm as well as get a new cable.

Doh

You might regret that decision in a few months... then again you might not.

Good luck with it anyway Thumbs up

The bushes are cheap and easy to replace if doing the clutch so I'd do that as well as greasing them.
