Hi all,

How much should I have taken off my flywheel when I have it skimmed?

Thanks,

As little as possible to clean it up, if it needs a fair chunk off, then the relief will want machining too to keep the preload the same on the pressure plate.

I had to have mine skimmed a few years back, the clutch went again scoring the fly wheel and they couldnt skim it again as there is only so much you can take off.

To clean up the clutch face, make sure that they are going to surface grind it as opposed to turning it on a lathe. In use you can get very hard spots on the flywheel, especially if the clutch is slipped a lot. When trying to skim the face on a lathe the tool jumps over the high spots, so you don't realy achieve much. This only applies to the face, a lathe will be ok for the rest of the work, lightening etc.
