Hi folks, just failed an MOT on a number of things, two being my front wishbone bushes. On GSF these are the related parts available, am I best going for the whole wishbones at 50 quid for the pair (do they come with both bushings?), or going for 2 of the more expensive and presumably better bushings? The list is below and will hopefully come out formatted correctly, if not I'll put it in another post!

Or finally, should I get the bushes from elsewhere? Cheers.

I would make sure the bushes are lemforder (sp?) as QH ones may not last too long.

It didn't really state which were the problem, just front suspension bushes or something. But I'd probably do all four if I do any.

I've noticed that if I get someone to drive forwards, then reverse, you can see my front wheel move backwards and forwards slightly, is this the P bush?

GSF do stock some lemforder parts don't they, I had a Lemforder drop link from them before now but I had to ask for it.

Yes thats the p bush, very common to fail now as the cars have got older, i buy them from Citroen as you can buy just the bush from them.

That sounds good, how much are the bushes from citroen? and are they easy to change? do you chop the old bush out and heat up the metal then shove the new bush in? can you press them in with a socket and a vice?

cut the old 1 off with a angle grinder and you can tap the new ones on, but you have to position them correctly(at the correct angle)

I've read that about the right angle thing, cheers andy/katie.

Is the other wishbone bush (not the P bush) one piece or two pieces?

Cheers!

What size hubs do you have?? If you have 16mm ball joints then you can get complete wishbones from CES for 30 quid a side or the bushes are roughly 6 quid a piece but i haven't bothered to use them yet so can't comment on hardness

Edit: two round ones at the the front pivot and one p-bush at the rear of each wishbone = four rounds and two p's to do both sides Smile

According to servicebox I've got 18mm hubs?? Sounds quite big?

I'll probably just get the more expensive bushes from GSF tomorrow, but I'll ask them to check what bushes come on the wishbones they stock as well. Cheers matey.

18's work out more expensive because the wishbones and ball joints are only sold seperately much to my disgust because out of all the 306's we've got or had my current rallye and previous six had 18's Roll eyes

Edit - sorry didn't mean to confuse you the size's are in reference to the balljoint sizes - all the bushes are identical across phases

Yeah I knew you meant the ball joint sizes, I think the ones from GSF come without ball joints anyway so I should be alright. I'll see what make the bushes they stock are tomorrow, cheers matey.

A nice upgrade for the P bush is to use one from a 406 or Picaso . Just need to drill out and retap the locator hole on them I believe from 8mm to 10mm.

I was under the impression that these were actually softer, even though the bush was larger.

Just decided to buy whole wishbones from GSF, no idea if they're decent quality or not (they said they were.. hmm..) but my old P bushes were bo***cksed!

Cheers for the advice folks, and I'll probably open this topic again if the bushes are shagged in a few months!.

Just replaced mine with complete w.bones from Pug. Not cheap but won't have to replace them anytime soon. I took the old ones off as there was play in the p bush (turned out to be wrecked!) and that in time then caused the front bush to deteriorate.
