I wasnt saying i would hit the limiter, if going for it i would be around 7000 when i shift up a gear Yes I guess its down to personal preference and quickness of changing gear, for me it feels good doing it around that mark Smile

I always thought an engine is working (pulling) best when it is in the sweet spot which lies between peak torque and peak power.

With PT81s I think my peak torque is up at about 5600rpm and peak power about 7200-7300, I cant remember exactly. I generally change just as I'm passing the 7000rpm mark though with a lightened flywheel you can get caught out in 1st as it seems the rev counter cant keep up.

Mechanical sympathy is what has me changing gears around that point.
