i dont like the idea of the fuel tank at the mo, so i may delete the charcoal purge from ecu and get a custom in car tank which is better in the long run if i went high boost!

Hi Mabz, are you going to mount your swirl pot in the car as well?, Swirl pot might end up too close to the backbox as it is Dunno

Or get a tank with a built in Swirl pot?

It has the most solid hangers/rubbers and have had no problem yetNo

dave, a custom fuel tank in car will incorporate a baffle.. or i may just fit a swirlpot where the battery box is..

bodyshop has been delayed somewhat, but it still looks the part.. The locals say it sounds like a superbike..lol

dan... charcoal purge solenoid needs to be connected otherwise ecu throws a fault causing a bad idleYes

Hmmm...

Ive taken the charcoal canister off, but left the brown plug installed, and idle seems to be fine.

good thread, the exhaust is growing on me, didnt like it the first time i flicked through.

although if you are looking into changing the fuel tank, wouldnt it of been better to do this then have an exhaust made, could of come straight to the back rather than have a double bend. making the gas flow easier?

so... where do we start..

oh yeh... carbonLove... decided to re laqcuer the mirror covers which included a lot of detailed sanding before they were bonded on to the wing mirror housing!

bit of fake carbon to the badge surround

Then it was time to an address an issue.. cooling.
As many SC boys know, cooling to the rad is an issue with such a big FMIC fitted and as you can see, there is a lot of surface area on the intercooler allown that hardly sees any air..

so off camethe number plate

masked up..

and the tool of choice for maxing air.. skylineR32 bumper inserts

half way there and many dremmel bits later

finally

but in need of a lick of astor paint..

bonded on with silkaflex

next was to fabricate a bracket to fit the new oil catch tank as as we all know these engines breathe alot of oil and i dont want that to go back into the charger or intercooler

Fitted

Did have to mod the front grill a little

Next tackle the brakes, these 310mm with brembo monoblocks are immense but a few months of the car standing the newish discs were fubare... hence never buying grooved again

on with a fresh pair with some mintex m1144'sNinja

No matter how rusty the rest of the car... count on these INNOX KW's to last forver

While the brakes where off.. the wheels which id never change went off for some professional refinish.. acid dipped and recoated in anthracite..

wrapped in paradas with brand new centre caps

The exhaust which i found to be different, was a bit too ott imo.. so i decided to coat the tailpipe in gunmetal heat proof paint..

but not being happy with the system on there it went to the scrappies and a brand new 2.5" mandrel system was then fabricated..

this sat snug in the bumper and wasnt as intrusive as the shiny tailpipe... oh and it sounds like a rally car!

bumper was then sent off deleting the oe cutout.

Back inside i was missing some rear speakers and the rear quarters looked a bit empty, so on to some precision cutting..

Riveted to the quarter

Speakers mounted..there not the bestbut its what was in the parcel shelf..

Next job was to tackle the interior.. as the rear seats never got sat in i decided to strip it and fit some new fronts..

So the choice of front seats...

CORSA VXR RECAROS Smug
A quick temp fit

and so out came the angle grinder on a spare set of 6 seats..

A bit of fabrication and they were almost in

problem... weight... and height! seating pos was high enough it made it feel like a range rover..

so out the workshop they went!

But in came some harnesses for..
some more Recaros!

but this time... less heartache please... so one call to RECARO GMBH and i was in with a drivers direct fit subframe which took 3 weeks to arrive! and cost more than the seats.. almost

nightmare of bolts

but some sad news... RECARO ceased production of the passenger seat runner... but a call to RECARO logistics uk and they found one in the back of an old delivery van that spat its engine out years ago! get in.. the LAST ever recaro passenger seat runner EVERLOL BIG THANKS TO LUCY AND MARGARET at RECARO FOR DOING THEIR BESTESTThumbs up

and the seats, wrapped in carbon fibre!!

Guess what car they came out from?

Aswell as weight saving... a battery to boot was imminant. A lightweight battery tray and a new battery with appropriate wiring..

Left the ecu rendered box less

so a quick mod of the oe box and brackets made up sat nicely with enough room for a proper cold air inductionkit..

more of that later..

Also decided to invest in a flaring tool.. this meant drilling away at unwanted metal andflaring the whole for more strength.. tada.. looks very cool and serves a purpose..

Didnt like the way the red recaros just stood out so had to retrim the doorcards in red suede

Fitted after sound deadening the doors..

MINT with the harnesses..

A few clean pics for the fan club:

more to come.... Cage, weight saving, carbon and aerodynamics
