on-line shop
The 306 GTi-6 & Rallye Owners Club was set up as a free-to-join club to encourage enthusiasts and owners to share information and experience. The shop has been created to help market the club and to identify other members at meets & events.

To visit the shop, click shop on the main menu. This will display all the products currently for sale. If you need a larger picture of the products, simply click on the sample image on the left side.

The shop works on a 'shopping basket' basis, where items can be added and deleted at will. Your shopping basket is saved between sessions, so can be recalled at a later date. To purchase an item, click next to your chosen item, and it will be added to your basket. To view the contents of your basket, click at the top of the page.

When you have finished adding items, click and check your items. From here, items can be deleted and quantities can be changed. When you are happy with your order, click proceed with order and you will be taken to the order screen.

The order screen displays a summary of your order and your delivery details as held on the system. If your delivery address is different from that displayed, please ensure that you click change details and make the necessary changes. Please remember that your private information is not accessable by anyone. If you change your details, simply return to the shop and proceed to the checkout. When you are happy with your order and delivery address, click submit order. Your details will be registered and you will be sent a confirmation email confirming your order number.

If you need to view the status of an order, click at the top of the shop page, and enter your order number.

When your order is ready, you will be sent an email with payment details on it. Please check your details carefully, as your order will be sent to the delivery address only when payment has been received.

Feel free to use the shop as often as you like, and help market the club!

picture gallery
The picture gallery allows members to share pictures without the limitations applied to the forum. To enter the gallery, click the link on the homepage.

To add to the gallery, click the 'add a picture' button. Click browse and select the image to be attached. Images can be in .GIF, .JPG or .PNG format only, and can be a maximum of 800x600 pixels in size. Click 'submit' and the image will be uploaded. Please ensure that you only press the 'submit' button once, as the upload process may take several minutes (depending on file size and connection speed).

To view all the pictures in the gallery, click 'enter the gallery'. Thumbnails of all the pictures will be displayed, with some information about each image. Click the thumbnail to view the full-size image and to read any user comments.

To add a comment, click the thumbnail to view the full-size image. At the bottom of the screen is an 'add comment' form, similar to that in the forum. Type your message and click 'submit' to add your comments. Please note that your comments can be deleted, but not edited. To delete a comment, simply click the 'delete' button.

To delete a picture, click the 'view my pictures' button. This will display only the images uploaded by yourself. Click the thumbnail of the image to be deleted, then click the 'delete' button under the full-size image. Check that the image is the correct one to be deleted, then click 'yes'. The image, it's thumbnail and all associated comments will then be removed from the gallery.

Version II
In October 2003, every page on the website was re-written. The reason for this was that the database of forum threads, gallery images and user information was becoming far bigger than expected, and the original code was starting to struggle, causing huge delays in loading pages.

In re-writing the site, the homepage was changed from being frame-based to being a single page. The reason for this is search engine positioning. Search engines send 'spiders' to read through websites to establish their content. Many spiders, such as Google, are unable to understand frames, so cannot read the site. By changing to a single page homepage, spiders will be able to read the site and rate it higher in their search results.

The method of logging in and out of the site has also been made more secure, and uses (slightly) more advanced encryption to ensure your details cannot be intercepted or copied from your computer.

Website Limits
To help speed up the operation of the site, there are various file size limits.

  • Avatars - 150x150 pixels and 8,192 bytes (8k)
  • Forum Attachments - 640x480 and 65,536 bytes (64k)
  • PM Attachments - 640x480 and 65,536 bytes (64k)
  • Gallery Images - 800x600 and 262,144 bytes (256k)

  • Text Only Forum Option
To speed up the operation of the site for people on dial-up connections, there is an option that allows the forum to be displayed as text-only.

To activate this option, click the view profile link on the homepage and click the 'View forum as text only' checkbox at the bottom.

The feature will then be applied to the current PC. If you use the forum over more than one connection (eg at work and at home) you can set the slower connection to text-only and keep the graphic version on the quicker connection.
