Another update, two days running!

Almost there with the Ph3 strips now, door and rear quarter go straight on, but wing strips need to be modified. The holes in the wing don't line up with the clips on the strip. Superglue won't work, so I'm going to need some Tigerseal, just to seal the clips in the right place on the strip and then hopefully it'll clip on like the rest.

The paint isn't a 100% match, but I'm happy with how it looks now, makes the decals stand out a bit more I think Smile

Tyre shine and brake dust all over the arches, need some mudflaps soon to stop that, just can't find yellow mudflap material anywhere.

A few new friends I picked up on the 200 miles drive back from PPC on Saturday :p

As it is for now, will have to sort the wing strips out next weekend.

I stuck my front wing side strips on with Tigerseal, but didn't bother with those clips.

Just filled the inside of the strip with the stuff and stuck it on. They won't ever come off now though, but I don't want them to!

That's what I was thinking. I Tigerseal'd an arch on my 106 and it would never come off again without a lot of damage! LOL I do want to be able to return these to standard eventually, so I'm going to try filling the back of the strip with Tigerseal and placing the clips in where they need to be Smile

You and Rat will be glad the sticker's gone now Big grin

Lowering is next on the agenda, piled loads in the boot last week for camping and it looked smart Razz

Already regretting the white multispokes, but it's so worth it when they're clean!

Chris, cheers Smile

Small pre-FCS update time, it's almost there!

After a long day in the garage on Sunday, faffing about with fans, I finally have one that works now!

My GTi6 twin setup had no wire for the temp sensor, so we had to remove the yellow fans that I'd painted up (which were held in by some seriously rusted nuts!) and put them on the old cowling I had. This means only one of my fans actually spins (which is enough to cool the engine) and the other one is only there to look pimp Razz

Also got the discs and pads on, so now all that's left for this week is to sort the wing bump strips and give it a clean and hoover on friday. A couple of minor things (bulb on the speedo from 100-140 mph (the one that matters Razz) and broken handle for tilting the drivers seat) can be done possibly, but aren't urgent.

Anyway, few camera phone pics from today.

Dics and pads

Twin fans in with the front end stripped

It works!

And one with it back together. Fans are a bit more visible than that, but it was getting dark and my camera isn't great.

I've decided I'll be having no wipers for FCS on the day too, so no-one can stick any leaflets under them Wink I have a cunning plan to hide the threads...

The side strips have now been sorted fully, the ones one the wing ended up being a Tigerseal job but they're stuck fast now and won't be coming off any time soon.

Just a few up to date pics as it stands.

Going for it's 140k service on Thursday and also for a new cambelt then got a new OE exhaust going on on Saturday, just in time for Pugfest. I might go for an aftermarket one at a later date, but this will do for now.

Also spent

After a service and cambelt on Thursday, a replacement back box and centre section yesterday (mine was blowing a bit and turned out to be rotten on the join) and a couple of runs up Prescott Hill at Pugfest today, the 306 is running sweet and I'm in love again Big grin

Final update before I go off to the 'Ring, the car is now ready Big grin

Coilovers went on the front last weekend and this weekend I took a trip down to see Dean, the result being...

I'd guess it's about 50mm all round, handling is infinitely better than before and the car feels like my 106 used to, a lot more predictable.

Two weeks time, it's off to the 'Ring to be put to the test and then when I return, the OZs are up for sale as I quite fancy a set of 16" white MOs Wink

Long time, no update here, anyway, here goes...

As you may have seen by my other thread, the 306 made it to Adenau and back and managed two laps of the Nurburgring.

It really proved itself as an Autobahn cruiser, doing speeds of up to 130mph (completely legally!) with ease and was still capable of lapping the 'Ring as well.

However, now that I've done all I set out to and done the trip that I built it for, I've decided it's time to move on to something else. So I've been tidying it up and returning it to near enough standard ready to sell. All of the modifications are for sale, so just ask if there's anything you're interested in.

Here's how the list looks so far Smile

Swap Ph3 headlights to standard Ph2 ones [DONE]
Swap Ph3 side strips to standard Ph2 ones
Refurb standard cyclones in silver [DONE]
Fit standard P6000 tyres to cyclones
Refit rear wiper [DONE]
Remove extra cooling fan and repaint single fan matt black [DONE]
Repaint towing eye
Pick up standard airbox and fit that
Remove quickshift [DONE]
Put number plate on retention and refit original plates
Remove coilovers and replace with standard setup [DONE]
Remove rear dampers and replace with standard
Get torsion bar raised

Today's work...

Engine bay finished other than the airbox, slam panel resprayed and a new sticker added Big grin

And for the first time in over a year, I have a rear wiper. Resprayed the tatty looking arm and replaced the plastic screw and grommit with a new one I found hanging around.
