A new update here, I've finally finished the enkei's so here they are:

Uniroyal rainsport2's on the front, BFG profilers on the rear, both 205/45/16
Handling wise I'd put the BFG's on the front though, since they have much stiffer sidewalls. But I had to put the Rainsports on the front because the BFG's also are a fair bit wider (although both 205/45) and caused rubbing with the coilovers.
Had to use 3mm spacers all around too (again, due to rubbing)

Perfect wheel for the car imo Big grin

too much rake IMO, hence the coil rubbing issues Razz

you need a shorter spring and wind the spring pan up.

yes I know, I've been told this a few times, but we're not allowed to do that here (MOT)

Surely you can just stick a shorter spring on the same colour as the old one without them noticing?

Sadly, no, they check the codes on the springs, even on original springs sometimes (like after a repair or so)
And the car can even fail mot when the codes/colourtags aren't visible anymore.
Makes no sense whatsoever!

FYI: we have the worst MOT-system in the whole damn world. Nearly nothing is allowed, and the things that are allowed cost extra due to extra 'validation-procedures'

There is nearly no way they can verify that the manifold isn't original (there are close to no xu-engined 306's here so thats 1good thing)

and I bet they're too stupid to see that its not original LOL

Very nice car you have! Have you got any pictures of your interior? Just curious as to what you did to fit the rear speakers in the back cards?

I know a firm that would be quite happy to powdercoat and etch your spring codes to match the old ones...

@philipm: interesting Hmm but I don't think I'm going to bother since it's not a problem any more with the 3mm spacers.

@mei: afaik any car that drives on public roads needs MOT, same with rally cars (but there are separate rules for them and not allowed to be used as a daily car in that case), bummer Razz

@ash: I love you too Wink

@chris: thx and yep, the real ones like rallyestyle's
but they were in a terrible state and I fancied a different colour (white looks shit on astor anyhow)
Never seen any replicas either...

nice car. 406 coup wheels strangely suit it. looks really clean as well. shame about all the rules/regs out there. almost like your not allowed to have fun driving. one suggestion though....please please lose that awful spoiler. just ruins the rear lines of the car imo.

been a while since I posted here...
going to update this in the following days.

Switched back to the enkei's, it's getting too hot for wintertyres.

Been working on my ICE again, many will not like it, but it just felt like it had to be done Razz
(as I'm a bit of a caraudio fanatic) more specs/pics soon.

Part one: the rear speakers

Not hooked up yet, need to fix the other stuff first.

The frontsusp. has also been partially redone, new plastic droplinks, new topmounts, new damper cartridges (kw coilovers) and I got me a strutbrace.

The strutbrace (should be an OMP-one, but I resprayed it since I detest red and I had some blue leftover paint)

The (after 4 years finally installed) subwoofer:

It's a Rockford Fosgate RFD3118, being dual 2ohm voice coil 18", rated at 1kw rms
Power by a Caliber ca2000d digital monoblock, delivering 1.3kw rms to it Big grin

Not just over the top bass, but plain tremors LOL
