yeah, I'm sure there would be a couple of people up for a badged one.....I hope!

But like I say cant spend for a while.

would the bonnet fix to original mountings or would it require pins all round?

lol the fact things always have to look worse before they get better.

The new panels, which will be replacing both the old grp version side panels and original rear quart will be attached to shell with countersunk rivetts and structural adhesive, the panel, as beofre, wil be blended into the shell as required with as minimal skim of filler and primer filler as neccesary, lol

Latest update -

Swapping from 205/40/17 R888 tyres to 215/45/17 Yokohama A048s

2nd - 63.9mph

It's time to get with it !

Engine Cover, pre preg laminated into the mould, 1 x ply of 280gram 4x4 twill

After being under vacuum for 30 minutes, the first ply has now been 'debaulked' and ready for 2nd ply of 660gram pre preg

Front roof bar trimmed, deburred and prepped ready for primer (with rest of car when that stage comes in the next millennium lol)

Both front & rear bar on the scales . . .

Weight of the pair, (290 grams)

Bonding time

Fitted to vehicle

Rear Inner Trim Panels (being cut tomorrow)

Fire Extinguisher Mounting Bracket

Goodies

Intakes

Getting them ready for something special

Prep of trumpet mould with sheet wax for the 'something special' part of the trumpets

Header Tank

I feel great after today having made some good progress with bits and bobs

Cheers

[QUOTE=Bic;79878]Okay all systems go when and wherever we can Smile

Stage 1 complete of the cured roof panel

Then onto stage 2, with glue film laid down and 10mm honeycomb core and then 2 more plies of 203gram pre preg (a little overkill in the end but its so strong overall now), lamianted in 2 sections to allow for roll cage main hoop, which we templated off another roof by placing on car and marking round etc, sits nice and tight on the inside, very happy with end result

The finished article after some machine and hand sanding to give a nice smooth appearance on the inside of panel

Templating for honeycomb core for the bonnet panel

Boot also being progressed

Final weight of the roof panel was 3.2kg, a little heavier than we wanted but the better for it being so rigid given the lay up we used and the core

Should have bonnet and boot completed this week right the way through with all fixings and trim detail for aerocatches and hinge fixings all in place. with the amount of honeycomb core we are using and lots less carbon, aiming for 2.5kg for bonnet and under 2kg for bare bootlid (without rear screen, which I am also investigating if I can get in les than 4mm polycarbonate, which is what i have lined up to go in, but in quest for weight saving could do with thinner, lol)

I also dropped off the door hinges to good friend Russell to trim down to size which will then be suitable for laminating into the new door panels Smile

Thats all for now

I don't think you've got enough clamps on the roof.

Pd144 - yep doing a 2nd mould of the trumpets so we can bond an inner and outer together fir tool face finish in and out Smile. Our moulds are mixture, larger ones use glass with one of our resin systems, smaller are 100% pre preg carbon moulds, as you know, cost lots in materials etc

Just spoke to P4P and also got availability of front screen too now

Going for Endurance spec front screen in 5mm material with a coating completed out in Holland by Lexan (as no one in the uk does it) this allows use of the wipers on the screen,

Rear screen - I am going for 2mm instead of the current 4mm panel, which obviously will halve the weight

Front screen going to be thick end of
