I'm interested in this discussion after first putting an MI16 engine in a 205 back in the early nineties, the car felt like a rocketship back then and with its bilsteins, A.P four pots and the six speed it was a quick car.

I then went down the route of putting a GTI-6 engine in another 205 I had with PAS and aircon but I was struggling with space and the weight of that lot decked the 205. I returned it back to standard and sold the engine on but its interesting to see the GTI-6 engine has become a favourite all these years on. I suppose once all the unnecessary crap is removed from the GTI-6 engine the weight difference wouldn't be much, the difference of the block material only.

Great project you have there Spiky. I was going to do something similar with my old F plate non-sunroof graphite grey one but after Supercharging the 306 didn't really need or have time for any more projects.

How much more heavier is a Gti6 engine than the original 1.9 engine in a 205 GTi?
That is of course with the aircon and power steering systems removed from the GTi6 engine before insertion into the 205 and the "heavy PAS pump bracket" chopped off. I'm thinking there isn't much weight difference then. Smile

25 Kilos I think Kieran. Could always just put the battery in the boot if it's bothering you Smile

I don't drive fast enough for it to bother me at all. LOL

But with the PAS and aircon systems removed and the heavy bracket thing (for the PAS pump?) removed then I'm guessing that weight gap isn't that big. Either way, I'm much more happier with the GTi6 engine in there. So much quicker ! Big grin

The xu10j4rs isnt so impressive when you consider its got another 100cc over the mi16 but only another 7hp(on paper) from fancy manifold, higher compression and lighter components...several years later

Surely all them holes weakens the shell a lot!?

The 205 is not strong as it is so all them will make it as weak as p!ss?!
