well finished off all the wiring now,

rear hatch just needs a black border painted on to hide the sealer underneath,

need to tighten the wishbones bolts
need to bleed the rear brakes (will do later)
waiting for a water hose so i can fill the car up with water/antifreeze

well took the car out for its first drive monday,

all ok Smile engine holding water Smile
clutch needs slight adjustment Big grin
no knocking having the top mounts underneath , though see pic below for reason..lol
however the brakes Shock . fook me i need bigger muscles LOL:

i bought a new 90 degree pipe so i can mount the airfilter down out the way, and will box it in, so there is no heat soak from the rad and no splashing from the wheels Big grin

ride height wont stay like that, i just raised it so it dont knock, will be lowering it next time i'm out there Smile

looking good, i would personally change the alternator setu to a gti6 alternator bolted on solid top and bottom as origional and tensioner the belt with a cambelt tensinoer, it will look tidier and means you can cut down all the top bracketry from that cast iron mount as it very heavy

No its hard to explain but an mi16 cambelt tensioner can be bolted to the cast mounting bracket, there is an m8 boss which work perfectly, not sure what size belt but 5 ribbed

i have no idea how hard/easy the XE engine is to do, so cant really comment.

but the gti6 engine is fairly easy, once you sorted the loom,

you need to sort the MC ex manifold and thats it really Big grin

the old myth that the gti6 engine is to heavy.

i've been on track in m std gti6 engine playing with a mi16 on ITBs and nothing in it Wink

i find it funny every time someone mentions it...LOL LOL LOL

Ive driven few 8v gtis and they feel more nimble and precise than my s16 205. Im sure with the correct suspension it will correct this. Not sure how the greater weight up front compared to the stripped out rear will affect things?

How much more heavier is a Gti6 engine than the original 1.9 engine in a 205 GTi?

That is of course with the aircon and power steering systems removed from the GTi6 engine before insertion into the 205 and the "heavy PAS pump bracket" chopped off. I'm thinking there isn't much weight difference then. Smile

25 Kilos I think Kieran. Could always just put the battery in the boot if it's bothering you Smile
