Reading online, everyone is fitting components in the front. I just picked up a GTi6, which already has very neatly fitted set of tweeters, but has standard front 6.5" speakers...

Am I right in saying that tweeters weren't fitted in the wing mirror cover bit as standard?

Sorry to bump this up as I didn't see Matt ask me the question. I have not used cross overs as c_j_m says pug didn't do this either.

Where as pug have a dual connector running to the door speaker off the door loom with an off shoot up through the door to the mirror cover. I have soldered onto the terminals of the existing mid and tweater, thus creating 2 tweaters per side.

I have a set of AM mids to fit in the door which will then run the mirror cover tweeters when I get round to messing around with the speakers again.

These do however offer a noticable improvement in cabin sound.

If anyone is interested I do have a spare set of covers and tweeters possibly for sale. You will however have to fashion the loom connectors yourself as I have used the ones I had already to get my set working.

Anyway to summerize these are a great improvement and I do not know of any other 6 that has these fitted. Many run aftermarket ones which have intrusive exposed tweeters but not the standard stealth pug ones.

Do you happen to know the Pug Part # for these Mr. Puggin?

Would be interested to see how much Pug would charge for new ones compared to aftermarket ones.

I've got loads of different connectors and stuff so I could probably sort something out.

I'll happily take them off your hands for a tenner. Thumbs up

Let me know how you would like to be paid.

I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping someone can help.
I have just purchased a set of Pioneer Q line components speakers. They don't appear to come with a crossover, as they are supposed to replace the cars existing speakers (the 6 however does not come with tweeters).
Do I need to get a crossover to split the signal from mids and tweeters?
I am assuming that the cars with tweeters have a crossover somewhere otherwise the signal does not get split, only I am confused can someone offer some advice?
Thanks

Is it possible that the speakers have crossovers built into them.

Some only filter for the tweeters and let the woofer deal with full frequency, so you can have an in-line filter for each tweeter (i.e. part of the cable).

*EDIT*

The speakers I have purchased are pioneer TS-Q171C they appear to have a filter inline to the tweeter.

When wiring:

From the speaker wire into the door do I split the wire and run one to the tweeter and one to the midrange?

OR

Run speaker wire to mid range and from speaker terminal of this speaker run a wire up to the tweeter?

Thanks

Great upgrade ... Peugeot parts department will be looking at a spike in tweeter sales over the next week. Has anyone got the part numbers? LOL

My XSi was fitted with 6 speakers and it made a nice difference over the standard 4 speaker set-up on the Gti-6.

Tweeter part Numbers 6562.C7
Tweeter Covers 9015.P5

I assume the two connectors in the tweeter are like a positive and negative and these connect to the positive and negative on the large connector?

What model of 306 had these tweeters as standard? I might raid a scrapyard for the loom and maybe rear quarter panels.

yes, the connectors are + and -, if they aren't marked, just connect them and play something on low volume, try them both ways, you'll hear which is the right way to connect them Wink

the tweeters have to be connected parallel to the speaker

I believe only the later (+'01) 306's had them

the partnumber you have is the one from peugeot, for genuine peugeot parts...

and if you are keeping the original speakers, just go for the oe tweeters (+covers of course)

From a Peugeot Dealership they have parts department where you ask them for spare parts.

Or for ease Lukejenks who is on here works at a Peugeot Parts desk and offers discounts and postage. clicky
