So from this i dont understand the gains still haha.
So are you saying there is a gain of 18-20bhp or are you just saying it alows the engine to rev more freely and giv a different noise tone?

if its done properly, and with an enlarged throttle bodie you can see very good gains. upto 20bhp, if you have also got cams headworks exhaust manifold etc. but if you are runnign it on a standard engine then i will not benifit you and make you worse off. longmans use this set up and its a proven method if its used in conjunction with the other components. i will probably be goign down thsi route as if you life the bonnet the it looks standard. but you are really packin alot of power from not visually changign the look of your engine.

But wouldnt the head work and cams give you the 20hp on their own?

Why would anyone remove inlet trumpets?
How many performance inlets have you seen without trumpets on?
Carbs, throttle bodies etc all have them.
I am no fluid dynamicist but why would they bother putting them in there in the first place if they did not need them.

yes head work cams and exhaust manifold see those types of gains but you are able to see an extra 20bhp ish from this mod when used with the other mods.its bassically working along the same lines as it was before but you are now able to intake so much much more air and faster. not sure if you would be able to remap the standard ecu for this to work or if you would have to get a stand alone unit.

People are still going down this route? I'd love to see the end result with one of these on a car with decent pistons cams and exhaust...

if i do go down this rout, with this inlet, cams remap and gas flowed TB, what bhp would you think it would get, and what cams would i need?

Touring car boys got up to 270bhp on the plenum style inlet, I would've thought 210-220 maybe more is possible with a revised rev limit, steel rods, forged pistons and some lairy cams.

maybe i slight bit more jim but i would have thoguht at least 215/220 its a great mod when done properly and when accompanied with the other goodies i mentioned before. forged bottom end and a set of 285's would go very nicely indeed. the one on ebay still has internal trumpets i belive. they seem to just come powder coated and ported and pollished. longmans do it propperly like you have done it jim. but they also enlarge the throttle bodie.

Yeah, it would've been nice to see someone take this all the way and get a result. Still I'm more than happy with the ITBs now Ninja

you will easily hit over 200 dont you worry, get a set of wossners off of mr walker and a set of rods. piper 285's ported and pollished head, maniflow manifold and one of these inlets ( proper ones) you will be seeign about 220 i recon maybe abit more. and an engine that visually looks standard. only thing i want to look intop is if you will need a stand alone ecu or can you get the oe one remapped????? anyone know?

Wayne Schofield of Chip Wizzards is the only one I know of that can remap the standard ECU, but it's deffinitely possible, he does the supercharger mapping on the ECUs for Rich W.Smile
