ive got to reblock my rallye so thought i would share my progress

bonnet off.

front bumper off

then i whipped the head off to make it lighter as i didnt have a engine crane
and tooke rad out

then i took the box off and lifted the block onto the floor and slid it out the nearside wheel arch, forgot to take a pic of that lol

all loaded up in the van.

then covered the rallye over.

last night i removed the crank from the old block, cleaned it up and fitted it to the new block, along with oil pump sprocket, chain and new crankshaft oil seals. also fitted new water pump
then i put the pistons, linears and rods back in the new block.
turns over like is should

all thats left to do on the bottom end is torque up the crankshaft, rods, fit oil pump and sump.
then i can bolt the head and box back on then get it back in the car

hoping to get the engine all torqued up tonight and get the head back on.

That's looking good. I quite like the idea of a Hybrid. Seems to be the best of both worlds Smile.

thanks, yeah hoping thats its going be best of both worlds. we shall see in the next few monthsSmile

got a fair bit of work done on it over the weekend, fitted 10mm copper fuel lines and a 106 gti fuel filterSmile also stripped the dash out of my 1.6 im breaking and lightened it and put it in the rallye, along with the 1.6 dials so now i have 140 on the clock not 110, which was useless, and have oil pressure gauge, etc
will upload pics of the inside later on

what fan are you running on that rad and where do you get them from?! im still running a very cut down standard 205 fan cage with one fan in?!

also how come the inlet manifold is soo long, i always thought shorter the better but i assume its like that for a reason and im no designer/fabricator, just interested?!

nice build by the way, good work

i dont actually know how much ive spend on the car overall, (a fair few grand though) but ive enjoyed doing it aswell and learned a hell of a lot at the same time.

i havent had time to do much to the car over the last couple of weeks but ive got a track day at oulton park with practical performance car mag at the end of november so have to get it finished by then.

i got the fan from merlin motorsport at castle combe, was around

havent really had any time to work on the rallye last few weeks but got a little bit done last night.

got the 6 manifold back on, fitted oil filter, put gearbox oil in it and a few other small bits.

im trailering it over to a customer/freinds farm at the weekend as hes got a four poster ramp i can use for nothing Smile
and ill be able to do the return fuel line, fit the downpipe and rest of exhaust and give it a check over before going to sandys.

few pics

fluids 'aquired' from work

6 manifold bolted up

fuel line

and just a few random ones
