Well it was a hard decision to buy my GTi-6, I’ve had my XSi for 4 years and it’s never let me down, a real love affair Laugh Looking at the pictures of it when I first bought it makes me laugh, looks proper sh*t! I changed everything, from the bumpers right through to the interior:

From this:

To this:

So anyway, back on to the GTi-6.

I bought it about 2 or 3 weeks ago, 66k on an R plate, second half so it has the decent interior. Also has a sunroof which is rarely shut too!

I never really was interested in buying a GTi-6 but after my XSi was on 121k and the rear axel failing I was worried. So this low miler came up and I decided it was a good deal! I’ve since realised I did always want a GTi-6 and that for the last 4 years I’ve been making excuses why my XSi was “good enough” Laugh

Theres loads of pictures coming so sorry if anyones computer dies!! (I don’t care really)

So a few pics on the first day I bought it:

Being a phase 2 and in its current condition, I didn’t like the following:

Badges
Tyres
Tailgate
Bonnet
Lights
Half colour coded skirts
Bump strips
Side repeaters

And a few other things…..

So this is all about documenting my project in making this car as clean and mint as I can. Its all in order so I’ll begin:

First thing I did was order the mats and sill protectors:

Then got fitting:

Not forgetting the stickers of course:

So next was the lights, I HATE the phase 2 lights so:

Side repeaters:

Quick pic of the cr*p badges:

Boot full of bits:

And all removed:

Then had to nick the crystals from the XSi:

And fit them:

Then the badges:

And then I got it home, its getting there Laugh:

Ok, next day was tailgate and bonnet:

If ever you take a tailgate off, DON’T FOR F**KS SAKE cut the wires, it’s a complete mission trying to figure out what wire was what, Peugeot changed the colour of the wires between phases!:

Oh and then the bonnets:

Carl Chambers’ drive!!:

So next was the xenon headlights from my XSi:

The oil isn’t from the car!

Ballast location:

So that’s that, time for some head to head action

So I don’t know if many of you have seen my XSi, its been to French Car Show and Pugfest for the last 2 years running, but I like to keep it absolutely clean. So when you touched the paint on the GTi which had been standing for some time before I bought it, the paint was rough as you like. Time for the clay:

After the roof work:

State of this!:

And the result:

Then the plates had to be changed:

Poor XSi:

I now have some fresh plates on the car, but no pics of that yet.

Tyres definitely needed addressing. Toyo’s came up trumps, I don’t wanna lower the car because the ride and handling as standard is superior to my XSi (it has the same rear beam as the GTi) which was lowered 30mm. I therefore needed to keep the 55 profile:

A quick random pic in there too:

And how she stands today:

Just needs another clean!

Its booked in the spray shop for the 15th September to have some colour coding done, i.e. spoiler, petrol caps, side skirts, and I’ve bought some phase 3 rub strips which need to be painted too.

I have fitted a 3" Magnex too, which is nice Laugh

Well that’s it for now. Thanks for reading.

Agreed, would look stunning, but I'm not going to! The ride, like I say, is absolutely spot on. And thats what this car is all about.

Looks briliant.

You need some new plates tho, they let the whole car down IMO.
Simple ones with 3D font no extras would look smart or German plates.

If creating an imposter phase 3 why didn't you opt for phase 3 badging, rear only. Would've been cheaper tooWhistle

It also appears to have phase 3 seats in it?

Either way looks very tidy. Whose is the moonstone one?

I didn't say anything about making it phase 3, I said there were things I don't like about the phase 2. But I also don't like the badges on the phase 3! Its complicated it seems Laugh

Dunno whos is the moonstone I'm afraid.

I dont like the phase 3 badges as they look all over the place, hence why Janes is same as this.

The Moonstone is one of my customers but they dont come on hereCrazy

Jonny the car is looking great, will look even better with the colour coded bits.

Glad to see the car has gone to a good home, and that you are enjoying it so much.
