What sort of price are you looking at for calipers and brackets?

Going to work a price out later but a rough guess would be (with a group buy) about 100 Make that around 150 ish

The kit will consist of:
Bracket
Bolts for caliper to braket
Spring washers for the above.
Washers for the hub to bracket bolt
Complete Hoses
Instructions on how to fit

All you will need to but is the caliper and the pads you prefer.
As a rough rule of thumb. Calipers (Z-120-7545) and pads from rallye design are £322. Thats with the "smart" pads which are fast road and track. Better track pads are more.

With the Rallydesign site it doesn't add VAT on till after the card details have been entered so be aware before anyone says it works out cheaper.

So effectively it will cost £450 ish to have a complete brand new brake setup. Using std discs.

Is Phil going to give us a price on some spacers to allow the fitment of Cyclones?
Have the measurments been worked out yet for said spacers?

Not yet. Going to grab some spacers from work to find out exactly how much will be needed. Remember you will need longer bolts too. Been busy today so not had chance

Looking good Yes So can you use shims/spacers to fit larger discs with these, say the 406 Coupe discs?

No. For that you'd need another bracket. Then you'd again have problem's with wheel fitment. The 406 discs have no offset so are about 20 closer to the wheel's. Also meaning 20mm away from the hub. Not to mention the big jump in disc cost. Cost of friction was a major part of me doing this. The discs needed for the brembo's are around 80 quid as opposed to the gti6 and less than half that. For 2mm difference. And less offset and more weight. Hardly worth it.

good work Welly Thumbs up

so far I'm running National Discs standard size with standard calipers with Apec R pads.. I want to keep my cyclones and everything a standard size but to dress up my brake caliper setup a bit, I may well go for a set of these once everything has been worked out.

Nearer the time Paul, could you PM me with a complete kit part number and price list (including spacers, extended bolts if need be etc..) ? Bearing in mind everything I'm running is still standard "off the shelf" size?

I don't see the need to change my cyclones as I like them, I was tempted for 17's but its just cost and whats the point? A relatively cheap but very effective caliper upgrade would be right up my street.

Thank you for doing this Welly, it's made a very interesting read as I've only just picked up on this thread Thumbs up

edit: also... do the calipers come in red?

They do, but you have to wait 6 weeks from the states and pay an extra 40 quid a caliper

Still needs a bit more testing.
They work and fit perfectly but having a problem as the rear caliper bleed nipple snapped. Having the lines open to the weathers for so long has meant air and water in the lines so couldn't bleed it fully leading me to have a bad peddle.

Have got another one coming but unfortunately won't be here in time for Castle Coombe on Saturday Sad

However, enquires have been made and pricing stuff up has begun. As soon as im happy i'll crack on with it and get the ball rolling. There seem's to be a fair bit of intrest so i'll budget for 10 car set's to start with and see what happens.

Can I ask, how much better are they than a standard set up with decent pads etc?

As you know, I am interested but I may wait for the second batch before comiting. That way there'll be a little more feedback from other people other than the kits designer. i.e not you Paul. No offence meant obviouslySmile

None taken. If you were closer i'd take you for a drive. They feel much more progessive than std calipers. More power at top end without sending the ABS loopy. Look much coolerCool LOL

Have you any trackdays planned Paul? I'd be interested to know how they do on track. The one thing i've suffered with (twice) in Germany was my brakes. Even running DS2500's and braided lines I suffered. So I'm keen on some decent stoppers that'll fit within standrad wheelsSmile

If our resident spacer maker and yourself can get a set of 7mm or whatever spacers made up, with appropriate bolts, and throw that into the kit as well with a total delivered price, I might be interested too...

I can't be arsed sourcing the bolts, I just get mind boggled by all the options and loose interest Big grin

Great thread/project by the way... oh, do they come in silver without the writing by any chance?

Dave
