Brakes will stay as the are for now, the calipers and discs etc are all brand new so may as well use them!

As said this is just a stepping stone to get used to racing then hope to move up to the touring car which has all the good bits on anyway!

no leaving that as it is, as said this is just a car to go racing and learn in, not to go out and win!

car is all finished now with the seat etc in so had the car wieghed today and was totally amazed!

I was hoping for just under 1000kgs but bettered that by miles!

Turns out its 30kg lighter than my 205 was! though that still had the Power steering etc still on it!

so total wieght is............. 870kgs!!!!!

Fecking hell, Rallyes can really be lightweight then! What would need to be removed to get it just under 1000kg?

Ive read the whole thread mate, its just the 50kg that Rallyes are lighter than 6s as standard isnt that much but this thing is as light/lighter than a 205!

And just curious what a sensible strip down to get it around a ton was, without making it a completley dedicated track car.

Need to have a better read through this then as need to get rid of some more weight in mine.

I need to loose about another 40kg from mine.

870kg though is a fantastic effort! Clapping

its not lighter than a proper 205, Colin satchell's hillclimber was under 700 kilos with an iron block 2.2 iirc.

You need to remove a lot of stuff to get down to that weight!

But to give you some ideas,

rear wiper motor is just over 1kg
seatbelts are about the same each
cooling fans are 1.5kgs
o/s alternator/pas/engine mount is 8.5 kgs
sound deadening behind the dash is 7.5 kgs
there is about 3-4kgs of sound deadening stuck to the floor!
carpets are a good 7-8kgs at least

But then you get carried away, every bracket that not used has been cut off no matter how small it looks, extra buls have all gone, the wiring harness weighs a ton!

you just have to decide what you want the car for and what you really need in it!

And some weights for you, all done on a proper MOT test brake roller which weigh the car to work out the braking efficiency so is fully calibrated every few months to ensure it is correct!

all weights are with me sitting in the car, I weigh 75kgs so you have to take that weight off the figure shown

my standard 205 1.9 GTI with factory sunroof, 914.4kgs with my weight taken off

my 205 GTI with full interior and factory sunroof with MI16 engine and gearbox, 936.3kgs

my 205 GTI stripped and omp roll cage, with 306 GTi-6 engine and gearbox, 911.7kgs

and lastly my 306 Rallye with nothing in! yet still has standard glass still in! 868.3kgs

Its for a weekend toy/track car and have already got rid of most things on your list. Currently weighs 1040kg with heavy half cage. That will go this year for a proper cage so will gain weight there. Aim to get as close to a ton as possible without spending lots of money Smile

I have had the door cards since the start of this project a few years ago and only now got round to fitting them! They came from Italy and were bloody expensive!!

as Dave says light weight wheels is another thing to look at, the BTCC wheels on this are 5 kgs a wheel lighter than the standard cyclones so thats 20kgs saving there alone!
