Had one on my 106 like james, and its the best value for money mod I invested in. The throw in the 6 is a mile so need to invest in one of these soon.

Mine came through the other day, must have the most useful fitting instructions ever! Roll eyes

Laugh

Let me guess...

1. Open Bonnet
2. Install Quickshift
3. Take car for test drive to make sure installation correct.

Roll eyes LOL

You not going with this compbrake thing then?

Both Wink

And i know this may sound a but dumb.. but how do you join the two pieces together as there is no thread in the holes on the part with the pinch bolt yet there is thread on the ball joint

it fits together like this and the bit with the pinch bolt slides over the ball joint coming off the gear box, the threaded bal joint goes where it is in the pic, hope this helps

Fitted mine today, like Snoopy said, put it too high up at first which made no difference. Needs to be as low as possible. Feels great now Smile So easy to fit too, took 10 minutes doing it from the top. Then took half an hour looking for the allen key that I'd dropped down by the inlet manifold when I'd finished Laugh Couldn't find it anywhere Sad

i fitted mine today and put it as low as possible and made a massive difference, just scratched hell out of my arm doing it. like people have said before, best mod for 20 quid. had to send my first one back as there was no thread in the first hole, they sent me another one asap and also gave me a couple of quid back for the mess around, chuffed all in all.

Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones as apparently their customer service is usually shit!

Mine had no thread, so i just threaded it in the hole with a spanner, i thought that was what you supposed to do Laugh

Now Luke has mentioned it, I'm trying to think which hole you meant too. Been a while since I fitted mine so can't really remember which way I did it.

Okay, guys, how the f*** did you mount the quickshift LOL I have the newer version where you don't need to replace the gear linkage rod, but damn I can't remove it! In this version of the QS you don't need to take off the gear linkage rod - u just need to "unclip" it on the right side and put the QS but it just won't come off. I tried doing it from below, but from there the visibility and space is worse than from above. And I tried greasing it, pulling it, twisting it - everything and it just can't come off. Any ideas?

Just looking for an update from those who have fitted these. Are these new design ones any good?

There seem to be mixed reviews originally but have they stood the test of time or are they all slipping? Unsure

Are there any similarly priced, better alternatives?

Just tighten them up as tight as you can and they dont slip, it does say dont tighten up too much but it doesn't slip if you do LOL

I can't comment on the new GE ones, but I've heard good things about the Compbrake one.

They are cheaper than they used to be also.

Can anyone who has fitted the Compbrake one give some feedback?

LOL Brute force is the answer to everything.

The compbrake one looks totally different. How/where does that one fit?

I presume it fits the same as this 106 one shown on their site. Unsure

Scores 8/10 on the shiney'ness scale though.

Just been looking at some other threads. The Compbrake one may well be better but it costs twice as much and looks a proper mission to fit. Laugh
