Ive been working on building this 205 for a while now. Loads of work has gone into this so i thought id just put some pics up for everyone to see. The engine came as a cambelt snapper in a GTi6 which had a very tough life and looked very worse for wear Sad the engine was then fully rebuilt, bottom end was fully balanced with flywheel lightened, crank reground, new shells, rings and bores honed. The head had some piper 270 repro cams, head lightly ported just so it was smooth, no major work to the head really. Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies with 120mm trumpets and cosy bosch 803 injectors. Full stainless scorpion exhaust with std gti6 manifold. A modified Whistle dta e48I ecu was used.

end result 214 bhp @ flywheel after being mapped. Smile

Its fine like that while diving on the road but for trackdays a modified headlight with some ducting to the cooler goes on.

Looks really good. It amazes me how much space you get back when fitting bodies.

Looks really nice but i think 241bhp is hugely optimistic. I had almost exactly the same set up a while back except with lumpier cams (piper 285h's), ported head, jenvey 45's and the 285's and it just scraped 200bhp. Admittedly it was a 'hi'flowheads engine but still. My touring car ran 240bhp with extensive head porting, cams, full steel bottom end etc etc

I have no reason to doubt the rollers it was mapped on were that much out, recenlty we had a rolling road day with the psooc at the same place where a standard 205 mi16 had 160 bhp, a 205 mi16 with a catcams had 167 bhp, another 205 2.0 8v turbo running 0.5 bar of boost had about 150 bhp (i cannot remember exact) all these power figures seem perfectly reasonable.

I have drove many 205's with all kinds of engine configurations and i can definately say this one is by far the most powerful yet!

it wasnt just a case of us slapping some jenveys and an ecu on, the engine was completely rebuilt, lightened/balanced, the head heavily skimmed, even the inlet manifold was smoothed out after it came from jenvey. All the best possible parts our budget would strech to were used.

The whole build so far has cost around

Sorry, 214bhp is very realistic, did it originally say 241 or am I losing the plot?

LOL

I don't suppose it really matters, the subframe is prob very similair to the 306 one anyway. If anything, welding attention should be turned to the shell LOL

Standard gti6 exhaust manifold was used as its the best one. The 205 bulkhead was modified to make it fit.
