do the pads hang over the outside of the discs on these brembos when used with a 283mm C5 disc?

edit, was looking at wrong discs, I guess its the 28mm disc that's used so only 3.5mm less pad sweep radius.

Well f*ck me. I seem to have a couple of stuck pigs on the front of the car. Quite an incredible amount of noise LOL

Plus side - although you can feel the extra track and weight it is shit loads quicker without the brake binding and they work very well indeed.

So far everything is greased with mintex brake grease using standard chamfered pads and standard discs. Next up i'm going to try some multiple grooved discs (Tarox G88) when I get the money sorted out.

Will be interesting to see how you get on, perhaps investing in some ear plugs would be better LOL

I don't know how you live with the squeel, a customer of mine had a set and the noise is unreal.

Makes you a better driver as you don't want to press the brakes!

that's two people I know with Brembos, both squeal loud enough that I can hear it in my car when they're a fair way in front! Laugh my ass off

Yes it is quite incredible. I found you can brake to about 30% with no noise, just after that it gets louder and louder awfully quickly.

I think i've already got that Mintex stuff on everything - can you remember what it was Meirion?

hmm, I can't remember if it was the Ceratech stuff or just normal Mintex non-copper based brake grease, remainder of the packet is still in the unit I think, or might be in my toolbox!

ISTR mine only squealed on light pedal applications.. if you braked firmly then they were fine. Unfortunately the effect that has on your driving is you want to leave braking til late and brake hard.. which isn't a very good idea!

Exactly like mine Yes Oddly it's fine for the first few minutes while all parts are very cold Crazy Any idea on why this may be?

bells would be a good idea, as you could address some clearance issues by moving the caliper and bell inwards a bit away from the wheel (i.e taller offset)

Wouldnt the caliper position be fixed as it is lug mounted? I guess you could space it out a bit and use some longer bolts Unsure

It all adds to the cost though i guess, if your looking to spend 400 on some bells and discs plus around 150 on the calipers and then 50ish on various other bits then you might be better off looking at the Renault calipers and the kit Ash does for them Yes

yup, exactly what I meant.

depends how cheaply you can get the calipers, Renault ones aren't that common yet, I can;t see why the rest of the kit would cost any more.

I remember them sqealing on a certain stretch of Sussex road in 2007. That looked like pretty hard breaking too. Whistle

That noise wasn't the brakes, it was the tyres. And the airbags. Razz

But that doesn't fit under 15" wheels though iirc. Wonder if the massive number of grooves on the Tarox discs make all the difference.

I doubt it no as 310mm is probably a tad big, i have been proved wrong before though Yes

The grooves will make a difference yes but not a huge one i wouldnt have thought No

He uses DS2500 pads and the Tarox G88 discs. No squeal at all when I tried them.

Will hopefully get to hammer mine later on this evening and see if they still squeal when hot.Ninja
