clean it up then use wet and dry paper to make it smooth (will take while on the inlet manifold!!), then spray - normal hammerite paint will be fine.

Quickest way is to get it cleaned up then get it powdercoated in the colour you want same with rocker covers

no reason why not, finish wont be as good as sprayed/coated though and powder coating is not that expensive.

So unless you have the time/energy to prepare the inlet for painting i would pay a few quid to get it powder coated.

have got a spare inlet and thinking of doing this i have got it rubbed down so its smooth as a babys bum all the moulding lines are removed and its perfect for paint. to i need to use a special primer like acid etch?? i am then thinkin of painting it in the same colour paint as the car. will a good oil/petrol resistant lacure be a good idea to apply on top of the paint?
cheers tom

I just used Halfords paint and clear coat, turned out absolutely fine apart from when I had a leaky injector and it stripped the paint.

My view is that you shouldn't have petrol flying about in there anyway, so just use normal clear coat Smile

Hammerite is sh*t never use it on anything, its a very poor paint.

Etch prime it first.
