Don't see what the problem is reviving old threads. And lots of cool people are doing it at present. Will help prevent them being auto-deleted anyway (auto-deleting is something I find deeply annoying, especially when it is FAQs).

And if it is New Zealand practice to continue posting on old threads, we should henceforth refer to it as to "Kiwi" a thread. So I'm just off to find some old threads and Kiwi them. It's clearly fashionable after all.

Solution!

I didn't think air vent cup holders would work due to the sharp angle of the air vents.

However I took a punt and spent $22 on a cup holder to try it. Turns out, if you pull the top of the air vent really hard you can get it out far enough to clip one of these on the top frame. The cup holder clips prevent the air vent going 'back in' so you end up with a very stable and perfectly straight cup holder!
