has someone got a pic of a close up of an injector in the fuel rail WITH CLIP, so i can see how the clip goes,

i put it on just now, how i thought it was (took off 8weeks ago)

and i tugged slightly on the rail and it came off all the injectors, so i guess i got it slightly wrong.

though cant see quite how other way they can go

i've been putting them on from the rear and pushing forwards

how did they go on in the end mate?

i take it the sticky out edge on it slided in the injector and the gap/groove bit sits iin the lipon the fuel rail?
ive been strugling to do mine today, did it but i was sure it should hold on to the fuel rail better than it did.
im going to try some new seals incase they are hard, but i dont think the paint i have just done it with is helping.

hmm how do i explain this, does the bit that sticks out on the side of the injector have to meet up flush with the bit that sticks out on the fuel rail(near where the injector fits?

You do need the clips...Yes

I had a rail leak because I'd powder coated it and the clips no longer fitted correctly.

Could have caused the entire car to go up in smoke as fuel was spraying everywhere! Shock

i think the bolts that hold the rail in keep the injectors in

Manifold holds them at correct angle but standard injectors have a split spray pattern out the end. The clips stop the injectors turning round so they fire in the right direction I you know what I mean. If your running different injectors then doesn't matter at all.

And considering it's atomised into the passing air it hiukdnt really make much odds anyway.

Yep that's what I was trying to get at, it stops them from spinning basically.
