Ok Back to Basics,

I will Try and guide the complete novice into changing front pads step by step

First Park up the car in a nice safe place away from kids.

Loosen wheel nuts so they are easily undone when wheel in the air

Now Jack the car up from the Proper jack point, Not the floor pan as you will bend the body

Once done try and get an axle stand under

Dont want the car coming down onto the discShock

Now you will Need a 13mm spanner and a 17mm Spanner..

First loosen the whole assembly by turning the 13mm spanner only, once that starts to spin, hold the 17mm and the undo the bolt

Dont take complety out untill both are finger tight, once out stick the bolts to one side

You will now be able to wiggle the caliper off,

It may take a bit of wiggling but will pop off

Now is the best time to take the Wear sensors (Them 2 wires) out,

This is what it looks like

Dont stress the brake fluid pipe, the caliper will rest on the disc, but its best to get a welding rod, or a wire hanger, and hang the caliper off the spring

Now here is the clever part..

UNDO THE BRAKE RESEVOIR

This is the proper kit for the job, they cost less than a tenner and make the job MUCH easier,

You will need to push the piston back into place, if you are suck then a flat bar across the piston and a big screwdriver to push it will be ok, just dont deform the piston

Now this Magical stuff is called Copperslip,

WHY

Cos its got copper in it, and its slipperyRazz

It has a very high melt point, and wont wash away like grease, its used to stop brake squel and you will find many a use for it.
Costs less than a fiver and will last for years

Now do the reverse to put all back together...

Dont worry if the caliper moves backwards and forwards a bit, All you will need to do is press the brake a few times and it will move back into place

Sit back and admire

Now you will need to do the same on the other side.

A few things to note

DONT put the new pad face down on the ground, it will get covered in dust and will scratch the disc

DO use thread lock on the bolts not to much though

DO tighten all bolts up as tight as they will go, And best check them after 50-60 miles

DO bleed the brakes while your there

DONT rag the brakes as they will need Bedding in for at LEAST 100 miles before they "key" To the disc properly, and will have full potential

HAPPY HUNTING PEEPSThumbs up
