Evening folks,
I need to replace the fuel relay on the 6 as a next step in the list to get it to start.
Tried the crank, cam, battery, earths and immobiliser fuses as per the masses of threads with people having similar issues to no avail. (Cranks and cranks but will not fire, pump primes upon switching on ignition but that’s it - will continually prime if I bridge the connection)
I can see two different ones on eBay with part numbers:

19207 & 19203 - seem to differ on price and availability but wondered if either will work?

Cheers,

Sam

I recently learned that the fuel relays are very engine dependent. There seem to be about 5 slightly different RFS engines, all with their own fuel relay… one that does not match the engine will not work.

Yes. But the fuel relay is not a simple relay... the circuit inside can be quite different. My mechanic (who is called the RFS whisperer for a reason) explained it to me last year. There was one RFS engine not running. He checked the fuel relay and noticed the diagram was different to another one. Changed it: et voila. The engine turned over an ran just fine. We checked if the old one was broken on another engine, but it was still working well.

On the outside one can see the diagram. If this matches your old one, it should be fine.

You think if part codes are same it would be same double relay setup
Pins are same
They look identical

Just bought one to that came off a 1.6p 307, same part code

Cannot compare my old one as the casing is damaged since like 2005... wiring diagram isnt there anymore. Fingers crossed it works

19207L is also a part number for a 306 fuel relay... as long as the diagram on both is the same, these should work I guess..

Glad it got you running - no joy on my part so the investigation continues. If I sort it, definitely going to try and write a big FAQ that consolidates every possible check and cause that we all can use for future!!

So still no luck with mine despite a different relay - I’ve just tried a new battery in desperation and whilst it turns over like lightning it’s not firing - I’ve got no spark and the plugs are dry so I don’t think the fuel is getting past the injectors. Help please!!

Is the crank position sensor definitely working?
Do you know anyone with an unlocked ecu you could borrow to test that?

Bought a brand new crank sensor and tried a spare also so can’t be that!!
I wish I did know someone with one - trouble is I don’t know anyone down my way with a 306 let alone a gti6..
Tried looking up getting an unlocked ecu but that rich guy doesn’t seem to be about anymore?

Ah, I’ve just looked him up but not posted since October..
I’m certainly leaning towards immobilise/ecu now but I’ve no idea about getting hold
of one. Really can’t see it being anything else at this point as I’ve tried everything else.

Get on the Facebook page bud. He's plenty active on there, although last I heard he was selling up but had a barrel load of spares. Might have an ECU

Goes by the name of Paul Vincent

So I’ve sorted my issue - turns out the transponder chip in my key had gone “faulty” and lost the immobiliser code and wasn’t recodable. A local auto lock smith was able to put a new chip in the current key and it fired right up! Thought I owed it to you all to advise it was sorted. Smile
