Hi All

I want to make some upgrades to my XU10J4R engine to get better performance with some parts from XU10J4RS, and here are my thoughts:

Things to keep:

1- ECU and wiring.
2- Exhaust manifold.

Things to change:

1- Camshafts swap only to (XU10J4RS) or full engine head.
2- Intake manifold + injection nozzles to (XU10J4RS).

Will I get a better performance? Will I face troubles?

Do I need to install XU10J4RS full engine head instead of mine or only camshafts are enough?

Any thoughts?

Thanks. Smile

the Xu10j4rs has double valve springs, which do not fit in the J4R head without machining the valve stem to accept the RS stem seal and valve spring seats.

better to swap the whole head, including both manifolds and downpipe, the cast iron J4R manifold will restrict the engine.

the ecu will need a mapping session.

The problem is I don't have enough room for exhaust manifold behind the engine + no one is available to make a mapping session for my ecu in my area.

as you mentioned, the cast iron manifold will restrict + ecu mapping session is required.

But!..... if I only swap the whole head + intake manifold. will I get some extra hp than the stock XU10J4R?.

Thanks for the info.

if you can't map the bosch ecu then you are stuck, no point changing anything mechanical as you wont get any more power.

the engine bay is the same shape for RS and R engines so the manifold will fit

OK, I understand.

So, as long as I can't get my Bosch mapped! is it possible to swap ecu to Magnetti Marelli RS? Will the R wiring fit? or do I have to change to RS wiring?

Also if fitting the GTi6 exhaust manifold you will need the heater matrix hoses also as they are a different shape.
