what standard centre/backboxes are people using that aren’t dreadful quality?

I heard Klarius are pants although I had one years ago that was ok Unsure

that said, if I could find a nice looking 2.5” system that wasn’t too obnoxious I’d look at that.

I had a 3” magnex years ago, backbox looked visually perfect but overall was too noisy

anyone got suggestions or photos of a similar setup?

aiming for quieter rather than noisy

edit: I notice spoox do a 2” bore system by Piper - anyone got a fitted photo of it? actually I think the box would still be 3-3.5”

I have the following fitted:

XSI with RFS engine:
S/S Decat - S/S straight tube - Sebring backbox
To loud for a true daily, bit raspy. With cat and midbox nice sound.

S16 (RFS) for track:
S/S Decat - mild steel straight tube - Remus backbox
To loud for a true daily, very raspy.

GTi6:
OEM cat - S/S Ragazzon cat-back system (straight tube, sports back box)
Awesome sound, but at approx 3000 rpm some people experience a bit of a drone. I don’t.

If you want to get close to OEM I would go for Walker. Absolutely not Bosal. Unless you want to change the whole system every year.

MTS are also a good choice for OEM looks and sound.

Mid

Cat

Cat & mid

Back

The backbox was on the car when I got it and was full of condensation as it'd been sat for a long time. Drilled a hole to drain and then stuck a rivet in to blank the hole. Back box has now got a small blow so needs replacing.

Bought the mid and cat to match the backbox and haven't been disappointed. You can see the size of the MTS cat against the cheap EEC version that came off, not up to OE girth but about as good as it gets.

Cut the middle box out and weld a pipe in. You get a deeper, crisper exhaust note without any extra volume surprisingly

Morning all, I currently have a Rallye with a straight through stainless steel pipe with only a back box, as you can appreciate it is somewhat loud and not to mention it has no catalytic converter on it, seems the previous owner left the decat pipe on and I've not stuck my head under to notice until now!

So any suggestions on where to buy a replacement cat and a middle section, stainless is probably best.

Good to see the site is still hanging in there, probably been 12 or more years since I last posted! :-)

Like mentioned above: MTS is good. Walker is OEM replacement used by Peugeot.

I have fitted MTS catalytic converters to two of my three GTi's. Good fitment and good sound. One with Raggazon s/s and one with s/s mid section and Sebring backbox.

I got all of my MTS exhaust parts from rsj-carcare on ebay.

Here's a link to the MTS backbox from them. Use the part numbers in my post further up (post #6) to enquire about the rest of the parts.

From experience, they don't generally hold stock but will order from Italy Thumbs up

Same place I got mine, as said earlier took a while to get here but well worth the wait cost about 165 quid ( centre section and backbox ) that was last summer so will be more now I would think, good seller as well when I asked about the clamps they chucked a couple in for free.

Just picked up my cat and centre section today from my local car parts supplier to the garages, looks good quality but the proof will be in the testing, only £210.00 for both bits which seems ok and they arrived within 2 days of ordering.
