Anyone know of any XU10 engines reliably running larger than 87mm pistons? Just come across some 88mm ones and am wondering if the cylinder walls are getting a bit thin with 88mm?

Thanks.

with core shift and loose tolerances in centring the tooling going 88mm is pushing it a bit, I don't know of any that were built at 88mm that are still about, 87mm seems to be fine however and more readily available.

Cheers, I was a bit surprised when I came across the pistons. I remember pug1off talking about building one but not sure if they did it not.

On another note are all XU/XUD engines the same block height?

alloy xu are shorter than iron block, xu and xud the same (almost identical infact, but still a different casring I believe, as the xud bore is only 83mm

xud11 might differ, there are a few differences with mounting thoss I hear, though the crank swaps dine, thats what I have in my 2.2

Cheers. I've got an xud11 block but not to hand but it's definitely different in terms of water manifolds and stuff.

What's the spec of your 2.2? Rod length, compression height etc? Did you use any standard rods or pistons or is it all custom?

cant use standard rods on the 2.1 crank as its a wider journal, so its 158mm robson rods to suit and a sandy modified QED Omega XE piston, ended up at 12.5-1 I think, newman ph4's (wildest hydraulic cam for this engine off the shelf)
3 angle valve seats and the throats of the ports below the seats were cleaned out by the seat cutter but otherwise standard head casting
piper double springs, refreshed hydraulic tappets, modified oil spray bars
satchell inlet, jenveys, satchell trumpets, standard exhaust manifold.

8 injectors, DTA S40 mapped by sandy.

Any idea what the compression height is on your pistons? No thoughts of going with longer rods? What torques does your have?
