Hi all, not sure where to post this.

Bought a nissens rad off eBay, just checking that this is correct, looks a bit cheap to me i.e. no border around the fins top or bottom. It does have a nissens sticker on with the part number 61252a and came in a nissens box.. anyone think it's genuine?

Thanks

That doesn't look like my Nissens radiator,..
Are you sure that's for a GTi6?

Do you have a link to the sold auction?

Here's a link to a past for sale thread of how they should be

Doesn't look like my Nissens either. This one looks like the cheap one which I replaced. Cut my arms several times with it. Thumbs down

My Nissens looks like the one in the for sale thread but with a black expansion tank.

Yeah that's what I thought, not the greatest quality and bloody light! I know that's not a bad thing but I've got a feeling this won't last that long.

Gnrlee, that for sale thread you've linked to, the one where welshpug bought the rad, he's stated that it has ordonez written on the rad so not sure that's a nissens rad either haha still looks better quality that my one.

Link to my wanted post with the eBay link in:

I spotted that as well after I posted,..
Could be a copy Dunno

But I don't think that one you have received is for the gti6/rallye
Although the pictured diagram looks right I think that's possibly for a lesser model 306

I'm calling that a fake.

This is a Nissens one I got from ebay last year.

The top and bottom of the core section are much different and the tanks either end black as suggested

Yep that one Ben has is the right one!
You'll need a blanking plug for that top left hole

Woody, this is the exact one I bought from eBay. If I remember rightly, the blanking plug was in the bag of bits....

eBay linky here!

I have the same Nissens fitted to my phase 1. Best rad ever! Temeperature of coolant is very stable where from the other GTI's I have the temperature goes up and down.

The one Ben posted is the right one. I wad warned there are any fakes on eBay, so I bought it at a well known shop to be sure.

I’ve a nissens rad on my track car, it’s around 4 years old but only done maybe 1500 miles, has always had a proper coolant mix in. I’m about to remove it to change to a new setup for throttle bodies if you can wait a week or so I’d be happy to sell?

It might be worth dropping Nissens an email to check if there's been a design change.

I can't imagine there's enough demand for a 306 radiator these days to warrant someone designing and producing a fake Nissens product.

Maybe someone bought a genuine Nissens from your seller and returned the package with that cheap rad to get his money back and the seller never verified if it was the original thing.

Thanks Jeffers, yeah possibly if I don't sort this one out, drop me a PM on costs, are you able to post?

I've emailed Nissens to check so will report back. Does seem unlikely for the fake but we'll see.

The seller has had another delivered and has stated it's exactly the same as what I've already got. Sure I'll get there in the end!

Sorry to dig this back up but I have just received a Nissens rad from Autodoc and it's exactly the same as the first one here, looks very poor quality,

Has anyone used one of these ??

Thanks

As with everything standards are getting worse, this seems to be a cheaper product, at the same price,

Word on Facebook is that it works ok just the fins get damaged very easily,

I will try it and get my own rad rebuilt locally,

Thanks

Interesting when you look at AutoDoc it states that it is without frame, what ever that may mean, might be something to do with the issue.

Nissen:s quality has fallen off a cliff of late it would seem. It's not the first time I've seen a post questioning their quality.

I'd heard the rad for the 306 was discontinued but there seems to have been a change somewhere along the line in design and quality....not entirely sure what changes, but something did.

To be honest, I'd look at a custom Ali job now. Somewhere between £150 & £200 will get you something very good that should last a long time.

Hadn't noticed this thread update, but I did eventually email Nissens UK and got this response:

Hi Dan

They look to be the same unit however are a different construction

Image 4 is a brazed unit, Image 1,2,3 are mechanical construction, however they will interchange

Regards

Glyn Greene
Nissens uk ltd

So I fitted it regardless and works all ok! Probably won't last as long as the better looking part but I needed the car back on the road. As stated, the fins are quite easy to bend/slice your arms open so be gentle!

Wish I'd kept that one I had now.

I ordered it for the Xsara VTS I had. Turns out the Ph2 VTS had very different fittings and whilst the Nissens one was listed for my car, it was wrong. After 3 months of searching, Peugeot parts in Leeds had a s/h unit on the shelf which I bought.

Think Carl Grimsely bought the Nissens one from me in the end.

I've asked Autodoc if I can return it, But I am not sure what to do, general consensus is the work well but are cheap and nasty, I am getting my OE rad looked at by a local company so I might just use it and keep the Nissens as a spare, being from a Rallying background I love having spare parts, I might never need them but I keep buying bits that I don't need,
