Ok, I’m considering buying some throttle bodies, I would like to know about the ecu side of things.
Do they need a seperate ecu or does the existing ecu need remapping?
What’s the chance of getting someone who knows what they’re doing to remap an ecu in Aus?
Could I use someone else’s ecu that’s been set up for their car?
Any other info would be appreciated before I spend and regret 😳

As far as i'm aware Wayne at Chipwizards is the only one who remaps the standard ecu, i have no idea if anyone does it in aus.

A user on here called Yanni managed to fit some bike bodies many years ago and fitted a modified standard throttle position sensor and retained the standard ecu. I can't remember what, if anything he did about the mapping on the ecu but im fairly sure he did keep the standard one.

I think the easiest way to go about it is to find a good reputable mapper local to you and find out what type of ecu they prefer to map, then consider getting one of them and going down the standalone route, obviously this adds on some expense to the conversion.

Most use aftermarket ecu as in the uk only one person is known to map the original.

With a aftermarket ecu you would need a base map to get it running or have a copy of someone else’s map to upload, generally you do that and then go to a tuner to fine tune specifically to your car to get the absolute most of them. Dta omex and emerald are popular over here but as said above best bet is to go with whatever ecu the tuner you use is familiar with

Alternatively 2nd hand set ups come up with bodies ecu etc that’s virtually plug and play then
