Hi, wondered if anyone could help. I’m buy no means a mechanic. (All the gear no idea)
I found froth in my dipstick(alarm bells) I also done a combustion test and the chemical turned yellow.
But when I done compression test I’m getting 175 to 180 readings on all pots and the leak down test is in the green. (all good) Could it be the heat exchanger/ oil cooler thing that the oil filter mounts to. Thanks in advance.

My heat exchanger once failed causing oil to get into the coolant.
To confirm i took the coolant pipes off the exchanger and used a joiner to connect them together then ran the engine, I put two hoses on the exchanger and ran them into an empty bottle. The bottle started to fill with oil which confirmed my suspicion.

Epic idea, I’ll try that day after tomorrow. New part from Citroen is £266, still a little cheaper than a head gasket and less work. Thanks for now.

Nice price. No need to buy a new one in my opinion. It's not common for them to fail and a used one should be easily available from a breakers.

Thanks for replying. Are they on other 306s, because the scrappy up here, gti6s never make it into the yard to be broken.

They are not on all 306s. I believe they are only on GTI6s. Try Ryan aka pug_306 here in the forum. I guess, he can help you out!
