Had a headache this week trying to get the Rallye to start (first time in 5ish years)

Fuel pump is primming. (Replaced relay for good measure)
Replaced cam and crank sensors.
Engine neg is good!
ECU pins look good.

No spark!

Im getting 12v at the injectors for a few seconds when the pump is primming then it drops to 0v..

What else can I check? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. Thumbs up

Just had something very simular turned out to be the negative earth leads on the battery
Cables where half bolloxed not allowing enough current to pass to start her but volages where good on the meter
Quick way to.see if its that put a jump cable between the negative and the block (clamp it yo the lifting eye )

I follow this thread with high interest. A guy in the Netherlands is having the same issue on his 2.0 16v convertible. We are troubleshooting with a couple of guys for over a week, still no success.

The suggestion above was tried as well... And starting with full throttle did not start the car...

Maybe, as the car stood for a while, can it be that precipitants in the fuel clogg the fuel filter?

Have you checked the duel relay on the back of the battery box
This relay controls spark and fuel injection timing

Fuel pump is primming, I have 12v feed at the injectors during primming, then drops to 0v after primming, is this normal or should it have continuous 12v after primming too?

Cheers.

Check your antenna is plugged in and fitted correctly, do you have a donor ECU to try ?

You'll need an unlocked one or have the chip

Picked an ECU up this afternoon (soft unlocked) still the same...

I get 12v to the coils and injectors during primming then drops out.
Should it have continuous 12v after primming also?..

The guy in the Netherlands had a broken timing belt... When he got the car he was not sure on whem the belt was replaced and did not wnat to spend money on a new one :s

No he is out of cash and needs to sell the broken convertible...

One suggestion he got was to check if timing was still okay.

Can you hear the pump priming
Pretty sure the priming circuit only supplies 12v whilst priming then drops off
Is it trying to start
Or is it just not responding
Is there power at the dash when the ignition is switched on
Or is it all as normal but just wont start e.g turn key all lights come on then wont start
As much info as possible will help chap
Describe all if you can chap

It does sound like an immobiliser problem.

Fuel pump will still prime with immobiliser but spark will be cut.

Mine suddenly lost spark when the crank sensor died. It would crank and crank and crank then backfire like a goodun and had no spark. Worth a try for a few quid. Get a Bougicord one from a factors

Thanks for the replies..

Bought a known good soft unlocked ecu this week, still cranking but no spark after primming.
Convinced it was the transponder aerial, fitted a new one on Friday, still the same!..

Is there a certain sequence to fit a soft unlocked ecu?..

My next step will be to get hold of an OBD reader to check if the ecu is unlocking with the key..

The important thing with a soft unlocked ECU is to unplug the immobiliser unit in the car before fitting the ECU, otherwise the ECU will lock again when the ignition is switched on. The immobiliser unit will do a code check with the ECU, which will fail, and the ECU will lock.

Ah right, I didn’t unplug the immobiliser unit..
If the new ecu is now locked, is it possible to unlock it again?..
