A 2nd hand one would be the way to go. I bought the sealy mighty mig at a similar price to that. But I wish I'd have gone 2nd hand and bought a better machine. That being said, I've welded 6mm plate on my mates Harley and it's didn't overheat and laid lovely welds and I welded in 3rd time luckies roll cage and again, it did the job perfectly. But compared to the industrial ones at work it was missing a few key features.
But Daveyboy is a welding supplier and may have offers on better machines or have some 2nd hand machines about. Pm him and if he don't reply then let me know and I'll let him know you're trying to get hold of him.

If you want me too speak to him I can, he’s very busy at the moment with a workshop move but he’s a real gent, my advice to you is buy once? If you plan on keeping it a while and using it for more than playing about buy a decent machine with good adjustment. Jim will tell you what you need . I’ve just bought a water cooled Tig and his advice was a godsend. Plus I saved £800 over normal retail buying from him! It’s worth calling him?

I brought one off the Mac tools van which turned out to be a sip welder with a Mac sticker. Was around £300 iirc, tbh it’s done everything I’ve needed it to I.e weld in cage and other bits and bobs

Cool I’ve got a really cheap sip/Clarke it’s been fine for body work repairs but now I’m struggling to get penetration from it (that’s what she said) I’ve changed upgraded all the earths but think it’s fooked now so I’d like to get something better to weld my cage in and do the seat mounts. Do you have a model number Blandy?

Jim said if you bought this it would do any job you ever wanted, I’m sure if you spoke to him or his brother they could do a deal.
