So just fitted my new suspension and want to reassure my self on a few things.

I take it you set up pre load of the spring with weight off the car?

Iv read a few articles saying that 5mm preload load is about right?

I know when I get the car corner weighted it will be adjusted but as a starting points are the above correct?

What are you using? The only spring adfjustment on mine is ride height. Pics would help.

Bc coilovers, you set the preload by adjusting the collar at the top and lower the car by winding the body into the housing

Gotcha. Yes set up off the car. Assuming you want to use the initial spring rate then just take up the slack.

I always thought the preload only mattered with helpers.

unless there is a nut to stop that top spring cup and spring from lifting up then all your doing is changing ride height?

Clearly I put the top mount on first, then done the collar up so the spring was tight then wound the collar up a further 5mm

Just enough to take up the slack in the springs mate yes if you have separate height adjustment too rather than using preloaded for height adjustment like most do. Just so
To stop the springs rattling around. Obviously once corner weighted they will all be adjusted and the ride height will need resetting to compensate.

You ~10mm minimum just to make sure the springs stay seated through vibrations.
