A question for all you project guys who have tackled the underside of your car......have any of you used air tools for de-rusting & paint /underseal removal? If so, what did you use and what attachments are best?

I've got a decent sized compressor now putting out 14cfm of air so was looking at getting an die grinder or something and fitting wire wheels as used in a regular power drill.

Thoughts?

These are quite useful in an angle grinder.

I like the look of them but I'd need something with a centre spindle in order to mount in the air grinder I was hoping to use. I have a mains powered angle grinder that would take these type of discs but its quite heavy when working above your head for hours at a time!

(maybe I've just got gay wrists!)

These are really good and also come with centre spindle for drill attachment
I used a mixture of cheap wire brush attachments box of 24 for 12bucks ebay then one of these for final clearence deox gel and acid for the pitting

And then a shot blaster with captive bag for the really stubborn parts bit messy but not as bad as i thought it would be

Mainly used a drill n grinder easier for access
Also brought a drill extension cable really helpful for behind the beam stop rubbers and other tight areas

Heat gun and a scraper is best as you won't take of the primer or galvinised plating that you will take off with a wire brush.
Plus a lot less mess
