Hi all,

When doing the compression test yesterday I noticed that if i moved the wiring loom it immediately idled perfectly. This makes sense considering the issue i had at the end of the track day was sudden and the other things i have been doing to solve the issue havent really had an impact.

My loom doesnt look that great and I am talking about the section that runs near the air intake but low down, there is a bend in that sectiion.

Is this common and does anyone know what in particular I should look out for? Any suggestions other than just get down there and take a look?

No idea if this is common or not, but some general loom diagnostics advice:

if when you are moving the loom it gets better, try and pinpoint the section (to around 5-10cm) if you can just by poking it.

once you've narrowed it down a bit, strip off the tape/shielding and have a look for any exposed bare wire, any obvious nics or odd looking bends. you can also try wiggling individual wires around in the loom if there is nothing obvious.

once you find the wire/wires causing your problem, chop out the bit of broken wire (~3cm each side of the break) and solder in a new section, make sure you use heat-shrink tubing to seal it back up!

make sure you wrap it back up in either the original shielding or some electrical tape!

if wiggling the last bend causes it' it wont be the crank sensor, more likely to be corroded pins in the two round plugs.

crank sensor doesnt go round the last bends.

Yep seem one on ebay for £60 might be worth keeping in stock!

Yup, connectors are easy to check and fix! give the pins a scrape down with a lil screw driver or a little wire brush if you can get one in there.

having a spare loom is never a bad idea, but £60 seems a bit much for what is probably just a dodgy wire or connection Smile
