Couldn't find anything in search but I'm sure it's been asked before. The black bag thing that's around the steering rack...mines all frayed and falling off, is it absolutely essential and can they be replaced??

If you don't have it, dirt can score the seals.

Great minds think alike - I actually checked out different rubble sack types for similarity to original tatty bag thing.

Didn't need it in the end, the VTS rack actually came with a good one so just used that.

Are you on about the gators which are on each end? If so you can replace all three.

We're on about the bag that should sit over the exposed part of the ram, not the gators that live each end of the rack.
