Hi all,

Today I'll be parking my'6 up for the winter and I was wondering if there were any tips for parking up a car for the next few months?

It'll be parked up on my sloping drive way. In the past I've chocked the wheels so I can leave the handbrake off, I find this helps stop the calipers seizing and the cable stretching.

I have transferred the insurance on to another car, is there a police that specialises in parked up cars?

I've not got a car cover, is it worth me getting one?

Do many of you guys put your car away for winter?

Put a container of rice in there to absorb moisture. Could help to stop seats getting damp and mouldy. Car covers are good because they can stop bird s**t and other harmful deposits ruining your paint and stop thieves targeting your car a bit more. Take battery out and store indoors.

Car cover chocked wheels steering lock rice or silicon if you can get some try to start her weekly if not more often run till hot fans etc
Towels on the seats will help also
Leave a little fuel in not much and put in fresh before you start her in the new year Wink

DEFINATELY GET A COVER
Halfords medium is a good one for £50 will see it nicely through the winter

Move it regularly so your tires won't get a flat point and inflate them to the max. Or put a set of old wheels you don't need on it for the time.

Never trust a parked up Peugeot, there bad enough whilst being driven, leave it on its own over a winter is just asking for trouble. You'll be starting a breaking thread by march lol

Mines survived 3 winters parked up. Last year I didn't even start it for 6 months just left the battery on trickle charge and it started first time when I came back to it.

Rented garage while ours is being built. Pumped my tyres to 42 psi, then parked it on some carpet (rear) and foam rubber (front - heavier) with a plastic groundsheet under car to reduce condensation. Car in first gear with handbrake off. Battery removed to warmer place. I forgot to leave windows open an inch. Will do that when I'm home next.

Also need to work out how to disconnect crank sensor to turn it over before re-starting in late Feb. Previously have cranked it several times and turned it off before it caught to get oil moving.

Would drive it in winter but British salt makes a serious mess of the underside in short order.

My 6 went very bad after 2 harsh winters oop north.. Granted, I should have checked the underside more between seasons but there are lots of rusty seams on it and patches in places i wasnt expecting!
New shell will be getting 2 part anti rust paint underneath as much as I possibly can before I put it back on the road.
