So, we've been hunting for a replacement for the wifes X5 (which somewhat like me has a drinking problem lol)

...after looking at the obvious candidates from VW, Merc etc etc we've only gone and ordered an Electric car (!?)

We've gone for a new 94ah BMW i3, not only does it make the wife happy, but genuinely, as much as i wanted to hate it, its bloody awesome!

Its got a full carbon tub, and more importantly its faster off the lights than most supercars, and from 30-70 only .6 secs behind an M4...

Its quirky for sure, but as much as l wanted it to feel like a milkfloat, sadly its pretty epic for a pokey town car

Embrace it people, electric cars are coming.... (and keep the 306 for track days of course....)

I have test driven one of these I also was fairly impressed
As you say quirky but responsive offers great mpg or its equivalent
And i do like the look apart from the wheels
The phrase wheres your cart hourse gone would fit nicely but other than that its a nice bit of kit did you get a free power point install at your home??? Think you can obtain this on a grant

So we've gone for a range extender version which is a no brainer for me...(200 mile range on the new batt cars) didnt get offered a free power point, they wanted £1500!

I've subsequently discovered there are a number of free rapid points in Worcester, plus we can charge over night on economy 7 Smile

Im bizarrely excited, just hope it fares better than the rather bashed X5 its replacing!

P.S totaly agree on wheels, the looks are errrr 'unique' - the interior is awesome tho

Tyres are expensive for these just to warn you. Obviously it will be a while before you need a set but worth being aware of a couple of years down the line.

Haha yes i've been in one, tbh it actually made me feel really sick - i guess its the lack of noise to help adjust your senses, coupled with the weird regenerative braking sensation as you decelerate

Amazing tech really, and only in its infancy

Right now tho, im enjoying this new 330d so much i dont want to give it back lol

The owner of the leaf I went in is mid 40s and an ex biker!
I was very very surprised how fast it was--obviously, steering feel and everything else will be s**te and a 150 mile range is not the best but they are very quick low down!
