Hi All,

New member/first post :-) have joined up as this looks like the site I've been looking for.. I've been on a few 306 sites but have found they're either largely inactive or lacking in the knowledge department, this forum seems a little more technically biased with clearly some very experienced members, not to mention fairly busy, so I'm looking forward to lots of learning!

Most of my own knowledge is from Impreza Classics (my 93' Type RA was featured in EVO last year), but my first car was a 205 GTi :-) After the usual buy a house/start a family thing the need for a cheap but interesting car has led me into ownership of a ph3 sundance yellow 306 cab! (2.0 16v), not a 306 GTi or a Rallye I know, but given my liking for 'drivers cars' I felt it would be a good project for me to try to improve dynamically whilst enjoying a drop top as well!

Anyway that's me, and my cambelt question is as follows;

Is there anyone on the forum that carries out cambelt changes for other members? I've bought an INA belt kit along with a new waterpump/aux belt etc but not that interested in doing this job myself or particularly having my local garage do it.. would prefer to have someone experienced in our cars do it so I know it's done properly.

Or of course if anyone can recommend a decent specialist around my way, I'm in Manningtree, on the Essex/Suffolk boarder.

Cheers!

Welcome, although there's a lot of diesel owners on there, 306oc has quite a few members who can do cambelt changes on the 2.0L petrols as well. It can also be fairly useful for technical resources.

If you fancy traveling down to East Sussex/ Kent I'll be happy to do it properly for you but if you didn't get a genuine water pump don't expect it to last.

Also 136 kit or 137 and what's on the car currently?

Pete... I need someone to fit a diff for me I may travel to you as I need someone good who I can trust. I don't know any trustworthy mechanics around this area.

You'll need new crown wheel bolts and new diff bearings ideally. I did mine with the box out but it can be done in the car ok. How soon do you need it done I've got a few projects of my own to do in the coming weeks and the Mrs keeps moaning as it is lol

Thanks for the welcomes/comments guys, I was speaking with Carl/Mechanical Repairs yesterday and will look to use him assuming we can work out a date.

Armzsc6 many thanks for your offer, your a little closer to me so no doubt I'll be in touch for other jobs on the never ending list in due course!!

The water pump I got is a KWP one and I ordered a gen gasket from Peugeot, I couldn't find any negative comments on them so thought it would be OK, however you've got me worried now! May return it and go for a gen pug pump too if the KWP is unlikely to last..

My new belt kit is I believe a 136 (metal manual tensioner), I'm not sure what's on the car atm.

So already crumbled lol, helps having a Peugeot dealer across the road! Just ordered a gen waterpump, thermostat and associated gaskets, £69 all in. Will take the KWP one back to ECP.
