HELLO
For a long time i'm trying to choose what is the best brakes setup for my gti-6
I dont use it on the track (maybe 1-2 times in a year)
I dont want to change the discs size - only 283 m"m

1) What is the best brake pads + brake discs (front only) to use for fast road use + daily driving? - is TAROX OE pads + G88 discs 283 m"m recomended?

2) Do i need to replace my calipers too, or stay with the original?

I understand that most of the forum using DS2500 pads + brembo OE discs but i realize that for daily use its too much hardcore,
and the discs are destroyed quickly and the brakes squeal.

4) Does BREMBO have braking kit for 306 gti-6?
5) What about PAGID/EBC/RED DOT? are they good for daily road use?

THANKS!

I use Brembo OE discs with Mintex M1144 pads. The pads are less hardcore than DS2500 and work well from cold.

Just as importantly I use Millers RBF300 brake fluid.

Never had any fade at all but the discs do turn blue occassionally Big grin

BTW they discs last well as do the pads. 12000 miles in and only a very small lip on the discs and pads not even half worn

From what i've read and friends have experienced the newest DS2500 compound is prone to falling apart prematurely so i'd avoid them. I had an old compound set and they lasted a good 5 years and tens of thousands of miles, including a few trackdays and laps of the 'ring. Mine worked fine from cold.

I didn't have any issues using standard calipers with decent fluid and braided lines with decent pads, and they were fine on trackdays too once i got some ducting to help get rid of some heat. The only reason i went on to 4-pots is because i knew the standard calipers probably wouldnt have coped with the extra power i wanted after supercharging, especially as it's just a track car so the brakes take some abuse.
For fast road use i'd say the standard calipers themselves are good enough for the job.

I was under the impression that the g88's were only used to stop the squeal you get from the brembo calipers.
At the end of the day most brake discs are just the same thing imo, the cheap brembo discs are alright from experience, it's the pads that do most of the work.
I'm using carbotech xp8 pads in my current setup and I think they are fantastic. Not been able to get any fade yet, they work great from cold and aren't too harsh on the discs. I can't say I find the dust too excessive but they only really get used on trackdays so the wheels get washed inside and out after each day, even if they don't have them pads in as a stock item the guy who I spoke to there custom made mine to my spec. The only down side to them is the lead time and price, but that's not an issue as I'll just order my replacements before they're needed and ive found you get what you pay for when it comes to car parts.

On my old 6 which was standard power just stripped out, breath and handling mods. All I ever ran was paid discs and pads on standard calipers and they were always fine on road and track.

I have ferodo premier pads - FDB1063 they are fading, I'm not killing them, they are just weak.
Im looking for somthing extra strong to use for fast road use and they just not good enough.

If I want to keep my original calipers, stay with same discs size (283 m"m) ,
What is the best pads to use under DS2500? somebody told me about TAROX pads , but I wanted to
Get the forum advice.

THANKS!

Just use pagid discs and pads. OE quality I drive hard and trust me they are more than good enough for a standard engine

I always ran pagid discs and pads and they are fine for standard power and honesty I doubt you will be driving any harder than me possibly same but no harder.

I do hear mintex 1144's are very good pads but never tried them as never felt thr need to pagid with pagid worked well together
