as most of us know Peugeot have stopped doing the leather Gear Knobs for our cars!

Mine was starting to look a bit tatty after 16yrs as a daily driver!
after a few helpful hints from Mark Loring (Malo225)

here are what I have so far!

the silver one was my 1st attempt while not horrendous still not upto my high standards! LOL
The carbon Fiber capped one my 2nd attempt is much better! Smile

Hello,

nice work but sadly does not look as good as the original leather knobs imho. Looks like the leather was thicker than OE, isn´t it? Was it a ready to fit bit or did you get some piece of leather and have sewn it yourself?

Cheers

I think it was just some off a leather couch my Neibour took to the tip! It was quite thick but to be honest as long as it was comfy in my had I was happy!

Mark said that he'd send me some over so I'll do another one
Then if its good enough I might use it and re-do the spare I have and sell it,..

I just used the patten from the original leather traced it and stitched it together (was pretty hard work!)

No need to wet it! It just rolled over pretty easily!

As ñiki says looks a bit thicker but the your second attempt looks good to me, looks neat and the extra thickness could make it a little more comfortable in your hand. I like the carbon cap did you make that?

The thinner leather has a tan backing which made it look scruffy!
I have some recomended stuff on the way!

As for the carbon insert thanks,... I did indeed! Big grin
I've made a few now but its so hard to make them perfect so not bothered producing them of even bothering to sell the other ones I did make!
Cast from my original ph3 insert and fits like a glove!

Wetting it will temper the leather if its not fully treated it will go a little saggy at first then shrink and give a much tighter fit will get the top in tidy it up

Just warm water let it soak a little not to long push out the wrinkies and let it dry

If its real leather ???

Again their a pain even the petrol covers in the mold end up with bubbles in the corners
I have a lot of failed attempts at those LOL
And mirror covers I made one perfect one with the lip to took in at the top but will still need bonding the other side lifted at the corner I'm going to see if I can save it Dunno

I want to get a proper setup going with vacuum bagging and infusion so I can guarantee a good outcome! It gets expensive after a while! LOL
