My Rallye has the single fan, I'm assuming I'd be better off changing to the double fan setup with the addition of an oil cooler. Also any pics or link to a thread to see how best to fit/plum oil cooler in would be great!

Thanks in advance
Ari. Smile

single fan is fine, no need for an oil cooler unless you're having oil temp issues on track?

I think the second fan on the Gti-6's is mainly for the air-con iirc.

Yep. All non ac cars had one fan and are fine. You will have oil temp issues on track. I've up'd mine from a 13 to 16 row as mine was still a bit warm at Brandshatch.

Yup unless it's been messed with the standard one on a phase 2 /3 6 instrument cluster works well.

Fans are redundant once the car is moving, they don't do anything past about 30mph, if you want more cooling get an oil cooler, not an extra fan.

It's because Rallyes are a poverty spec gti6 they didn't come with everything on them. Only one fan, no air con, poverty cloth interior, less paint and they never even came with the option of a sunroof either.

I understand that the Rallye had the single fan for not having A/C but I'm thinking of upgrading as the temp shot up in traffic either that or I may have to have a manual switch?

So if I want to use it for the odd track day I won't necessarily need oil cooler?

How hot we talking?
If your car starts overheating in traffic could be a head gasket. My 106 started doing that and it totally crapped out about 200 miles later.

Check your coolant levels and top up!

I have a 19 row oil cooler on mine and the oil gets up 95c on track, when I had a 13 row it used to climb to 120c. Makes a big difference.
