Hi all,

I have a reconditioned cylinder head for sale.

The spec is:

- 12 new valves
- new valves stem oil seals
- valve guides inspected
- all seats recut on a Serdi machine - 3 angle profile
- skimmed

£275 collected, or £290 delivered.

Ideal if you have a tapper, or if you're doing a head gasket and want to freshen up the top end.

Head comes with camshaft bearing caps, but no cams or lifters.

Will do a deal with one of our uprated HGs and a set of bolts for an extra £50.

Cheers
Rich.

Not a bad price. Last one I had done fully with 16 valves and 8 new guides seats recut skimmed pressure tested cost around £400 but that is at one of the dearest places around but they do a perfect job.

Ideal for someone with a tapper though.

Thanks - yeah it's a good deal for someone.

The place I use is also a top end place, and I could get it done a lot more cheaply, but don't they are very experience with the XU10J4RS head, have done all the heads on our big power S/C engines, and we never have any issues.

I have had heads done elsewhere and had issues, but would rather it was done by someone with the best tooling and knowledge, even if it costs more Smile

Hi there mate, im interested. is this still available?

I've recently bought a 306 Rallye and i notice that it has a bit of a tap to it, stays throughout the rev range, hot or cold. i got a pretty decent deal for it so i would really like for it to not tap! haha

managed to find some history about it here on the forum in fact! apparently its been making a tapping noise since at least 2009 and it was owned by Stingfish (http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=155709) which he says here that he thought it was a sticky tappet.

also another owner here: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=160388
This is a more accurate representation of its current condition.

I have bought a new cambelt kit and i'm going to buy a water pump soon. it was last changed at 96K and its on 117K now, three years since the last change. so im going to get that done soonish.

do you reckon that this would do the job? i'd probably be reusing the Cams already in my engine and maybe buy new lifters??

i could get a video of the noise it makes if that would help?

Thanks,
Alex

Mei, I expect the labour would be around £250 for a full job - I'm doing this head cheap as I have the parts in stock, which I'm trying to clear.

If you want, I can send you the details for our engineering firm, and you could have them price up exactly what you want done. If all you want doing is the seats cutting and a skim, it could be cheaper, particularly if you can assemble the head yourself Smile

Hi Rich, I can put it together myself not a problem, just at that frustrating point where I haven't any access to machines like that!
