Hi all,

my gearstick rattles at times and has a little too much play so have ordered the 2 bushes that connect the stick to the linkage.

My question is: can they be fitted from inside the car by removing the stick and associated gubbins or do I have to get under the car and remove one of the exhaust heatshields?

I have just bought a new Jetex system so will be getting under the car anyway, but if I don't have to try and remove (more importantly try and refit) a heatshield then so much the better.

Thanks for reading and hope you can help Thumbs up

Barry

From the underside mate do you have quick shift linkages if so this is most likely the the rattle cause put grease in the nuckles if this is the case

Hi mate

No quick shift or fancy gear linkages. Pretty sure it is these bushes as if I just rest my hand on the gearstick the rattle disapears.

Balls, was really hoping not to have to disturb the heatshields.

Thanks bud

Just to clarify, if I have to do this from under the car does it definately involve removing one of the heatshields?

As cully said

The fixings if not already broken away will break off re secure the shield with same large dia self tappers with hex heads youll need to drill small holes to fit best blob a bit of paint or primer in the little holes before screwing to help tame future rot the shields overkap each other so best to ge the hole car up for access
