can the STD diff be replaced with the quaife while the gearbox is in the car?

if so anything to watch for/replace while in there

its possible but a right bloody faff, ve done it in a 205 with an ap suretrac, it varies whether the casings needs relieving to clear the diff also.

I did my 3j with the box in place & even filed the casing down in place & a ATBs easier ...but removed my subframe

Mine was fine didn't even think about it tbh I thought quaife ones were all meant to fit without hacking at the casing but plate diffs need some removed. Mine turned over fine soon as it was fitted no clearance issues at all.

Ive fitted a 3j into a few casings as well as a quaife, varies a lot, mainly the older casings that need work iirc, both will need work in some but none in others

i guess its jut rotate diff see if catches box or casing remove/grind back tight spot
