I have a Nissens rad in the Rallye and it has a black expansion tank, not the translucent expansion tank with min and max markings the OE rad had (IIRC - haven't seen the original rad for 3 years).

How do you know if the coolant needs a top-up with a Nissens rad?

Open the cap shine a torch in it
Do this when cold as to avoid injury goggles face mask steel toe boots and boiler suit is also advised
Remember to barrier of you working zone and present high visilibility sign notifying general persons of the dangers within the activity being undertaken
Present your risk assessment to the required and proceed

Remember spare batteries just to be safe Smile

I just chuck the hosepipe in the reservoir until it's overflowing and then put the rad cap on

Nice do you have much metal left in your engine or do you just use lots of gaskets and filler Smile

Laugh my ass off

Mine usually sits (when cold) about 2-3 inches down from the level of the rad cap.
Always has done. Smile
