I guess similar in cost to the 205 kit he offers? seen a few of the 205 Ones so be nice to see how it does on a 306 when you reckon you'll be back out again?

Looks great Damo! If I could afford it, would love a similar kit in standard width

I visited a great chap called Simon ...he has a fantastic car that's a credit to him ...
He has a Sequencal Hewland box fitted that I wanted to see and if possible try .

Anyway Simons car is standard width but I do have similar Satchell tubular lower arms to Simons that are not Satchell ...
The ARB that he uses looks similar to the Suzuki system I've seen on several rally cars....dam amazing problem sorted ...
Simon was good enough to send me some pictures today...
Hope this gives a few people some ideas ...Iain etc ?

You should see a hole in the white body chassis

The straight ARB goes through both sides of the chassis holes loose and into the Bolt on Alloy retainers with rollerbearing that supports the ARB that goes through.

no idea 0n that, not seen it on a 306 before.

Looks a great solution, thanks for posting Damo. Obviously similar to works cars in practice.
The key thing here for me, is the retainer; is it a custom part?

I had considered with a standard 306 rear ARB could be employed in this way? There are also cheaply available rally Sierra items available with the possibility to make a similar solution from.

I had initially been favouring a mounting welded on the chassis rail just in front of where the holes for Simon's solution sit, (Like on standard Sierras and Sapphires) but until I get my subframe and wishbones bolted up I can't assess clearance.

Do you have any knowledge whether the exhaust manifold/downpipe needs to avoid it, or if it misses?

Cheers
Iain

Here's an example of some of the bolt on solutions for older/modded cars that I think might practically just bolt on a require a little bit of work.

There's more out there, and pretty sure something can swap over well..

And this is the other one I've looked at
https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=609_881_882&products_id=7196&osCsid=84u1hpe17ohus01j6f1n1fba67
Cheap as chips and different bars to choose from.
Would need someone more clever than me to work out its AR properties.
I'm seriously tempted to have a look at fitment..

do you really need something larger than standard? or is it just trying to make it work with a different wishbone?

Is that to me Mei? If so, not after a bigger bar - looking at options for tubular wishbones which is how I think Damo has come to be looking at the same.

I've had a chat to the suspension guy / John from Black Art Design ...here's his response to me not running a Front ARB with my Satchell subframe arms ....

Hi Damien

Roll resistance is a good thing...front and rear in dry conditions on any car front or rear wheel drive like ARB's, it's only when you want to droop the wheel frequency (p**sing with rain) would you want to disconnect them....Saying that the Progressive spring rate set-up you have does a similar job to the ARB ... as the wheel is loaded the rate goes up on the loaded wheel...but more importantly the inside wheel rate drops like a stone, so riding the curbs on track is much better....which you don't get with an ARB. It really is a conditions thing...track conditions that is. You can back to back test it with and without to see what's best dry/wet.

Hi Damien

Yes we could convert both the front to 3 way as we put the take off for the hose on them.
The 50mm wider arms / motion ratio will effect the spring rate...but not by much, you might not even notice it.

The valving should have enough adjustment to cope with a higher spring rate, but only if it needs it...I'd say try it first and decide once you've given it a hammering round the track!

Also from Tony Palfrey of Maxi Motorsport plus Satchell fame
https://www.maximotorsport.com

About ARB
Hi Damien, Colin had designed and tested the kit to run without the anti roll bars. The advantages you gain in wishbone configuration and strength by losing the rollbar mounting points for wishbone location outweigh any advantages from running the ant roll bar with the correct Dampers / setup .

So basically both these Gurus seem to sort of agree ...so I'm going to try fitting it all ...then get Colin Satchell to setup the car once it's all fitted ....bloody use it ....proofs in the pudding for my driving style
